I've thought about a hitch basket, but have ruled it out until I can get the exhaust pipe moved to the side. I've seen posts that say the rear exhaust pipe fumes will damage items in a hitch basket.

good point, didn't think about that, my tail pipe has been routed to the side.

So about that Rola Rack....is that the Vortex model? I am not familiar with these at all. Where did you guys get them?

If so, what are the 2 things on the right and left on the air screen in the front? Are they light mounts?

Also are there shovel mounts for it, I see there are for the normal crossbar systems but I can't seem to find any for the basket.

Mine is the Rola vortex with the extension and I love it, the extension is a preference thing and I like it better with the extension. They openings on either side of the fairing and just openings. It would be a neat spot to put lights though. The link you posted is different than the ones they are selling now

I was trying to compare the Vortex to the Megawarrior. However, I am not sure if the Yakima's measurements are inside dimensions or outside?

As far as that picture, on their website that is the picture under the LARGE vortex model. However if you look under the vortex/platypus combo, it shows this:

That one looks more like yours?? Is yours the Large or regular vortex?

For the Rola stuff, It seems harder to find the accessories for the bike, shovel, etc. at least harder to know if they will work with the Vortex.

I just checked, my MegaWarrior is 48" (side-to-side) by 52" (front to rear) measuring from the outside of the bars. The rolla is 8" thinner and 3" longer. The rola rack is about the size of the LoadWarrior with the extension.

I bought the megawarrior because it was the widest cargo rack I could find and I thought it fit the body size better.

Rola has a 5 year replacement warranty.

Yakima has a Lifetime limited warranty.

Rola rack is a nice rack but make sure you seal the holes with silicon to prevent rust. I know a few people with the Rola who had that issue.

Hopefully that clears up some confusion. Its a perfect fit IMO with the extension. Its just about the same length as the roof rails.

I also have the Rola Vortex and did make it a point to seal off the the tubes. I know Zstampe did as well.

For the price, the Rola is hard to beat. I liked the low profile, and honestly a rack is going to get beat up over time regardless of how much you pay for it. Aside from it not being a one piece rack, I am pretty happy with the fit and finish.

Bought the Megawarrior tonight, cargo net, shovel attachment. I passed on the extension for now.

I am going to get the Farout Pro Yakima bag also or some other bag. I have to do a little more research on it though.

I liked the Rola but the availability of options for it seem harder to come by.
