Aiden James Customs - Anyone heard from them lately?

I do have a question. Do you make it a point to comment in threads about Gobi who has many employees and has many of the same issues like this, or do you just like going after a business with only one employee trying to get a biz off the ground?

So are you saying that because another company known for crappy customer service exists that gives you a free pass to have crappy customer service?

And to answer your question, I have comment on the golbi thread in the past just like I have in prinsu and pelfrybilts thread. Your thread boggles the mind, because Every few weeks it ends up in the front page of this forum due to some of your happy customers.

Nope just stating that even a company with many employees can have difficulties and I believe that I have been more open than them and more responsive to make changes and it’s just me, pretty much doing everything.

On another note, this thread ONLY pertains to the custom built drl kits I make and not about the 30-50 orders of products I process each week. In any event, I am finally able to make that change and get ALL orders caught up (as my customers have been advised of) and future orders will have zero wait time.

As I stated, I am owning up to my faults and working to improve.

So, I do have a question....

In the future, going forward......
Will you do, like most companies do, Wait to charge one's credit card when the order goes out the door and not before?
That would be a big improvement.

Other than Gobi, what companies don’t charge you when buying a product off their site? Even a huge company like Amazon doesn’t. I ask seriously as Gobi is the only one I’ve heard of doing that. I’ve had that convo with other well known fab shops.

That said, when these are re-released for sale again, they won’t have a lead time therefore when an order is placed, they will already be in stock and ship immediately. That’s what I’ve invested in but we are fulfilling the backlog first. Once the backlog is fulfilled and we have them in stock, they will be available on our site again.

In excuses?
Sounds about right...claims the email notification doesn't work for him... please.

It hasn't worked for me...on several threads I was subscribed to.

On another note, I don't see how pounding Scott any longer is going to fix or make the process go any quicker.

He's admitted several times, with full transparency, his faults or his mustakes.

Having had my own business for 25 years, before going to work for the nan, I've walked a mile in those over book, under deliver shoes....it can make for many sleepless nights, and very long days....especially if you have scruples, and care about the product you put out.

I think we are all guilty of over presuming what's going on here. Remember, we all want to have cool shit for our trucks, and there's a very limited, small arena for that cool shit.

Let's give Scott a chance to make this right...he's responded to every complaint on here.

Thank you and I do care not only about the product but helping people with getting their trucks built up. I will get this fixed.

The arena isn’t small for cool shit....just think about how many companies all over the country sell sliders, skid plates, roof racks, lighting, bumpers, winches, wheels, suspension, springs, control arms, traction devices, RTTs, solar panels, fridges, recovery gear, on demand air. Hundreds of companies delivering quality upgrades for our rigs, and without a year and a half lead times.

Amazon and most companies will NOT charge for backordered items, they will charge right away for in-stock items. That said, unless you have the means to fund the orders before making the sales you don’t really have a choice but to charge first.

I have my facts straight, you know how I came up with 1 and 1/2 years??? Look at the date of the beginning of this thread, people began complaining about your horrible customer service in this very thread, starting at the beginning of this thread up until now.... This very thread serves as a timeline.

You said you haven't made excuses....you are making excuses this very instant. Nobody cares what you do for a living or if this is a side job...you run a business, and if you don't know how to run one, then get someone who can.

Btw, nice 4runner...we see how you spend your free time.......instead of working on backorders..

The fact that people have been complaining about lack of communication and not receiving orders for over a year and a half seems to go right over his head.... He says he wouldn't come back to this thread, yet he keeps coming back with more and more excuses. The fact that he gets notifications for SOME threads but not THIS one tells you everything you need to know because he turned off notifications or unsubscribed from this thread so that he could ignore the noise, yet he can't help but come back here and make more excuses. It's also interesting that he keeps saying he used to have a full time job but now does this full time and he still can't get his orders that he's already received payment for caught up! This is very disturbing, and the fact that he's trying to make it right seems like too little too late for me. This guy will never get a dollar of my money, except these 2cents

Toyota-Tech.

Respectfully, Scott, there are lots of companies that do as I am asking.
I buy a good deal of gun stuff and that's the only way they conduct business.
That's not the only companies that I deal with that conduct their businesses this way.
If they don't have the product on hand they inform you and tell you "Sir, your card will not be charged prior to the shipment going out."!

It's hard for me to believe you question that process. :wow2:

So in fact, with your new process going forward, you are stating "they won’t have a lead time therefore when an order is placed, they will already be in stock and ship immediately"
.... So you will be doing exactly what I have asked.
Wait to charge one's credit card when the order goes out the door and not before

You are wrong in so many ways and I’m done trying to explain things to people here that I am going to fix it and make things right. You won’t believe what I have to say anyhow and I need to focus my time and communication efforts on current customers, not those who don’t plan to be anyhow. It’s wasted effort.

I think you make a great product. And I want it.

It sucks that it's been 6 months of waiting, and sounds like I'll have to wait 3 more based on your last email to me. It looks like you're making some moves to improve your business, which is great. But that doesn't help those of us who have been waiting patiently before you made that move.

It would be nice to get a little more out of this than improved communication. The 3 month lead time that you had listed on your site when I purchased was a little disingenuous.

I've waited long enough at this point that I'll stick it out, because like I said, I want your product. But even if the product exceeds my expectations when I do finally get it, it will be hard for me to recommend AJC to others.

I don't know what your profit margins are, or what the financial status of your business looks like. But if this was something ordered from some other business, I'd honestly expect a discount or something additional to make up for (what seems like) the initial hoodwinking. That's what would help fix your reputation, at least among those of us who have been waiting longer than the stated lead time.

Good luck with everything.

What is the name on your order?

I have not ordered product, thus have zero issues. I will say this, there is nothing easy about bringing a product to market. Nothing. So many variables and having to trust and rely on other people and their companies. Things go south all the time. So easy to just give up. He has not, that says a lot about him. Comparisons between a small company and multi million or billion dollar companies is not apples to apples.

My 2 cents, after 3 decades of helping start ups and designing products.

Mods should lock this thread. It's pretty much just plain bullying and kicking when a man is down.

If after things get better or worse open a new thread.

Kicking someone when they’re down, or holding a company accountable for making customers wait 1 1/2 years for merchandise. :der:

in all fairness, i trashed aiden james, but when i saw the tjm airtec snorkel at the great price he had it for. Ordered it. This in stock item shipped quickly.

Definitely needs to up the game a bit on his custom products though.

I don't have a dog in this fight and only today saw this thread and skimmed through it. I think it's worth pointing out though that you are mistaken on this and it's a perfectly normal way to conduct business. Amazon most certainly does wait to charge once the item is going to ship. I place somewhere between 6-10 orders from Amazon every month and my card never gets charged until an item ships--especially for backordered items. I also just put two nightstands on order (which are custom built) and have paid no deposit and my card has not charged and will not be charged until it's preparing for shipment. As mentioned before, I too buy gun parts from lots of companies and this is exactly how the operate.

Whether or not you believe it is standard practice, it seems like it would buy a lot of good will from the community. After someone like Pelfreybilt, who seemed so stable and profitable, ended up being thieves and stealing pre-order payments--no one knows what to believe and who to trust. Might go a long way in showing you're listening to the customers rather than just operating the way you want that's caused and will probably continue to cause this ruckus. Insanity isn't doing the same thing over and over again. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
