Air conditioner stopped working now it’s fine???

3 days ago when it was 104 heat index my air conditioner stopped working.

The past 2 days it’s been in the low 80’s and it’s blowing out ice cold air.

What made it stop working when I needed it the most?

Maybe the compressor is going in and out ? Could be slowly dying?

Intermittent operation could be electrical. Check any fuses & relays. I haven't looked into the 4R's system specifically but a friend with a Honda Accord had been driving in Atlanta heat for 18 months b/c some POS garage told her she needed a compressor. She happened to mention when we were discussing it that the system worked one day for 5 minutes then stopped again. I Googled it and found her year of Accord uses a relay that has intermittent operation as a failure symptom. She bought one for $12 and problem fixed.

There's a pressure switch(s) in the system that could malfunctioning.

I bought my son a used car years back and the ac compressor wouldn't kick in. I disconnected the wiring connector at the compressor, sprayed some contact cleaner on both. Over the next 7 years, it never acted up again.

It may not be your problem but it's an easy thing to rule out.
