Air Conditioner won't stay on?

'03, V-8 2WD, 125K miles.

Any ideas?

One day last may the A/C just stopped working while driving and the orange light on the switch was flashing rather than staying lit. I kept pushing it and it would stay on for about 3 seconds then start flashing.

Later that same day it worked fine until about 2 weeks ago when it did the same thing but wouldn't work for 2 days. But just out of the blue worked fine again....until yesterday same thing.

Push the button for A/C, it stays on for about 3 seconds then starts flashing and not blowing cold air.

Interesting thing I've noticed is each time this occurs the humidity is very high like after a good rain.

Suggestions?

Be sure to follow Cookieroe's link to the thread about this issue. Not sure if the part number is in that thread, but you can get the relay for a little as $12 at auto zone. The same relay is used for the fog lights, so if they don't list it for the air, ask for the fog light relay.

Picked up a relay at Advance Auto and it works fine now.
