Air intake and Snorkel question

Ok so I wanted to have an air intake for so long and I got K&N installed couple of weeks ago. I like it and its not so bad. But the problem is now I want a snorkel so so bad and I am not sure if I can have a snorkel and an intake at the same time.......I need your experts suggestion please....

nope snorkle and K&N intake wont work together. just sell the intake and put the stock one back one, the snorkel gives you better power anyway. air is much cooler.

thats what im running... i have a K&N intake tube and filter, and a safari snorkel. the snorkel does not give you any more power. (i know what you ment about the CAI and snorkel thought...)

but yes T4r4life is correct, you can not run a K&N CAI and have a functioning snorkel. but if you just want to spend $400 to have a "look cool" snorkel on your rig then sure you can use both.
but CAIs do not do anything for our motors, infact IMO and experience, has been they hurt out motors at least with the K&N system. because all it does is suck hot air from the engine compartment. the factory air box gets some of the coldest air possible. if you want the "cool" sound then do the deck plate mod.

that looks good, i need to get one of those, tired of shaking mud water off my air filter every time i do river crossing.

SS170HF, its for a 95.5-04 toyota tacoma. they never made a snorkel specifically for a 4runner.

Use the stock intake with a snorkel and deckplate/ ISR.

With the deckpate open you get the same performance you would with a CAI, with it closed the snorkel is useful again.

And the Tacoma tube (it's an intake tube that is in the fender. It goes between the snorkel and the 4runner intake tube).

I don't know about the 4runner but I had an intake paired with a snorkel on my FJ, we just had to make a custom fitting to pair them together easily done. I loved it! Looking at the above pic though, the snorkel mounts much further back so I see no reason why you couldn't run both.

you dont see why you cant run an "intake" with a snorkel...? well technically you can run both, but the snorkel will not be functional. an intake sucks air in at the filter, you would have to enclose it and seal it, and then find some way to couple that into the snorkels system, so it would be all sealed up. but at that point the intake is now useless because its limited by the volume of air that the snorkel can provide... the idea of a snorkel is to provide air to something that is submerged under water... it needs to be sealed off in order to be functional. "intakes" are by no means sealed from water, especially if the water is over the hood.

you can NOT run both and have them be affective. go back and look at the pics i posted again, i had to get some larger silicone hose to seal off my intake tube to the air box, and eliminate the intake filter and use the K&N drop-in replacement filter for the stock air box.
