Air Lift 1000 Puck or no Puck?

I have a 2010 SR5 I'm about to install some Air Lift 1000s one. I've read everything I can find and feel pretty good about the overall install except one thing, the puck. I've read conflicting reports and seen conflicting photos of whether I need to install the puck or not. I'm going to be installing the bags at the bottom of the springs.

I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions on this. Thanks!

Installing the "puck" spacer on the bottom between the bag and the axle helps to support the bag and prevent it from getting pinched in the lower part of the spring near the axle where it can be torn. Better to use it, although I suggest ensuring it stays in place with some heavy duty weatherproof double sided tape. This will keep the spacers from shifting when there's no weight on the axle such as when it is being serviced.

Thanks for the reply, that makes sense.

The pucks have an oily film on them, I'm assuming plasticizer or something coming out of the polyurethane.

Did you have any issues with double sided tape sticking to it?

No, but it took me about 5000 miles after install to figure out it needed double sided tape. Try cleaning with some dawn and water, it should remove enough of the residue to add the tape.

I got the install done. It took longer then it should have, but that's typical for me. I'm glad I installed the pucks, I can see how they'll also protect the air connector on the bag. I cleaned the pucks with isopropyl alcohol, that did the trick to clean off the plastisizer. I used some 3M exterior double sided tape to stick them down.

I used this saw to cut the bump stops, flexible and work great! A good tip though is to lubricate the saw with soapy water.
