Airaid Intake vs. AFE

For those that have already installed in CAI's or are simply fans of them, I'd like to know how the Airaid compares to the AFE? I've always used AFE on my Tundra's and this seems to be the preferred CAI of choice among users here.

AutoAnything's Semi-Annual Sale is underway and on top of 20% off, Airaid is offering a $50 Rebate. I can't find any 5th gen reviews of the Airaid other than 1 who said "it fit nicely."

Any overwhelming evidence to support AFE as the best? Can anyone recommend the Airaid or provide a short write-up regarding the sound, performance, etc?

While I have no experience with CAI's on 4R's, I did have one on my 2008 F350 Super Duty. I researched the crap out of them, and ended up going with the Stage 2 Si Magnum Force for a variety of reasons, of which one was the airflow volume. Air-raid reputation in the diesel shops seems varied, but the shop I was using had too many issues with them and tended to use either AFE Power or S&B Intakes.

I've owned an AFE for my 4.0L tacoma, lost bottom end power and I only drive at lower rpms, so it was a lose lose for me. Sold it and didnt look back.

As long as its a closed tube getting air from the inner fender well, you're not going to really lose much by installed either.

The picture I found of the AFE looked almost like a K&N kit with an AFE cone filter and a divider plate, if that's the actual kit I would go with the Air Raid system as it looks similar to the factory intake.

You make a good point....just curious as to why so many members here chose the AFE when the Airaid is similarly priced.

I know when I was researching for my tacoma, the afe was one of the only ones that increased hp on a dyno test.

Personally I think the stock air box with a new filter is the best way to go and cheap. Any gains are absolutely minimal, but they do sound good.

Just my opinion. Wish I didn't spend the money on my intake but oh well.

agreed, youll only notice real gains from a cai when you are running a super charger
