Airfilters for a 2004 V8 4Runner Sports

I got rid of my Jeep and bought a 04 V8 4runner Sport. My question is how much difference is a K&N filter from a Amsoil airfilter. Are there big difference/noticeable difference btw the two or not? Any links which pit the two air filters against each other.

ive read alot on that subject...cant think of particular sites though...k&n is good, but the amsoil is supposed to offer same air flow, but way better filtration. i had a k&n on my old 4runner, and i wished i wud have bought amsoil after seeing the dyno tests with the both of them. hope that helps

stock is always better

Aftermarket filters don't filter well to begin with. Unless you're racing, this mod is worthless.

anyone try an Amsoil in there 03/04 4Runner?

Has anyone tried one of these in their 4Runner. I just tried to put one in and it fits like crap....way too tight! I stopped bcause I didn't want to bend it. Maybe I have the wrong part. I think the part number is t-162.

that is the correct part #, it is a pain to get in there, i actually talked to someone from Amsoil and they said its fine, it is supposed to fit air tight but they have had complaints so i believe they are gonna make changes...but squeezing it in there does not diminish the integrity of the filter....just squeeze and push your hardest and close the lid

did your filter fit in flat, or is it bent? It just seem like I'll have to really bend it and it won't stay flat. Then how far in do you push it? Just enough to close the lid?

i think it was pretty much flat, i just pushed it in enough to close the lid

the guy from amsoil said it will shrink a little and conform to the box over time...the first time going in is the worst...as long as its in there it is sealed and working

That is what I did, I squeezed and forced it in there. After a week it is still sealed with 0 problems.
