Aisin Water Pump kits...UPDATE IN OP.

Anybody ever use this kit. My understanding is that Aisin in the Toyota supplier.

EDIT/UPDATE:
So I went on and ordered the above kit (except from Amazon.com: Aisin TKT-025 Engine Timing Belt Kit with Water Pump: Automotive) and upon initial assessment it looks all OEM, well from the makers of OEM stuff I added some photos for anyone interested.

Side note, I have belts and hoses from a project that never got done and I ordered a Stant XACTStat thermostat from other recommendations, I didn't get a photo, but is very well constructed in comparison to other thermostat installs Ive done (other vehicle makes all together). It was also purchased from Amazon.com: Stant 48118 XACTStat 180 Degrees Fahrenheit Thermostat: Automotive

The quality is up to what I expect from an OEM part and once it is all in the truck I hope that there is no reason from me to redact my initial assessment.

So far the only critique I have is some burred edging on the pump, I will inspect the Toyota one that is coming off to compare the two:

Aisin (pronounced eye-son) is a parts supplier for Toyota. One of the plants is in my town actually. Aisin products are good-to-go.

I used the kit in the Amazon link. Aisin is good stuff (the T4R auto transmission is an Aisin product at least in the 3rd gens).

The water pumps in the links above, do not have a bypass for the engine oil cooler.

If you have an OEM oil cooler, those kits won't accommodate it.

Yea, I noticed that...I found one that has one, so I need to identify if my truck has the bypass.

How can you tell with out getting into the truck?

Look for the oil cooler on the (driver's) side of the engine. It is to the rear of the oil filter and vaguely resembles it--round squat thingy with a hose going forward to the water pump.

If you mean with out going near the truck, I have no idea.

What? I'm a little new to water pumps, what do you mean by this? Have to change mine as well and was going to get a kit similar to this one. If so could you show what you're talking about and possibly the correct part?

The first kit does not have the bypass. This one does Amazon.com: Aisin TKT-025 Engine Timing Belt Kit with Water Pump: Automotive

You will have to determine if your truck has the oil cooler as shown above.

I have the belts and hoses, so it doesn't make sense for me to spend over 100.00 more for a thermostat.

I have looked at that one and a similar one...this Aisin kit has just the things I want minus the thermostat.

Those burrs won't make a bit of difference in the coolant flow. More coolant spills off of the pump impellers than those burrs would have an effect on. They are really no different than the rest of the rough casting you see there in the photo.

It looks good. I got mine from amazon via "timing belt kit company". It had the crank seal and cam seals as well as the thermostat.

The 4runner has the engine oil cooler. The taco does not as far as I could figure out.

Both my buddies Tacos do.

And My thoughts on the seals is, if they are not leaking don't mess with them and I wanted to make sure I got a hold of a top quality thermostat. Anyways that why I ended up with this one.

I figured the same, but I have read a handful of complaints concerning these burrs on other water pumps. I about positive the OEM one will have the same.

TB/WP kit...

I used the Aisin kit from RockAuto. Looks like the pic of the Aisin box above. Great kit, no problems. As to the comments of the WP, the WP must have a small coolant outlet on the right side (thermostat side).

I finished my replacement in May and its been running flawlessly!

A carbide in a rotary tool would eliminate the burrs if anyone would ever be concerned about them.

Heck, even a file will knock them down without much work.

Finished the job yesterday...it is a quite simple project, just very time consuming. The the parts from the kit where exactly what came off the truck and now it ready for anther 90,000 miles.
