I have a 2nd gen tacoma also and just acquired an 86 4runner. Im over in Wilmington, so 3 hours from Uwharrie. Thinking about getting a trailer.

It tows ok. I want to regear it and a supercharger is on my "probably never happen wish-list".

Yea pretty much. Vinyl removal wheel. Made of rubber and makes a mess as you can see lol

Yea it works well. I used a heat gun on the door to pull the vinyl off, but the vinyl on the fenders was really dry and cracked, that is where the wheel was needed.

I got all the vinyl cleaned off but the hood. It is baked on pretty bad, oh well. I clay bar'd and polished the paint, it cleaned up really well. I will start installing the new vinyl soon, if the heat doesn't kill me.

I discovered a bad rear wheel bearing. Anybody offer advise for driveway replacement? I have 2 kits ordered, hopefully they will be here ASAP before my beach trip next weekend.

Yea I studied that. Did you use a press, or the slam it on the driveway method?

I followed that also when I did mine two weekends ago. I did find my 20 ton press needed to assistance to get the bearings out (maybe mine were just "froze" on good). I put a bind on it with the press, and then hit the end of the axle (back side of the lug nut studs) with the hammer a few times to jar it loose. I also used a piece of 1.5 pipe to drive the new bearings back on. It was a pain the first time, but I also didn't study that link much before I started lol. I could do it again pretty quickly.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. I don't have a press, but I think my friend has one at his shop. I may pull the assemblies and take them to his place with some beer one evening next week.

These are 17x9" 2.5" backspace. Required a little caliper shaving without wheel spacers. I have IFS calipers and FJ Rotors. I had the same wheel in 15" and it did not fit over the caliper without wheel spacers.
