I've been browsing these forums for about a week now, recently purchased my 4runner, I'm happy I found a place with such a wealth of knowledge, looks like I'll be on here often.
My 4runner seems to have a host of issues, and as I address them, I'll chronicle my journey here and hope you all don't mind me sharing, seems my new "old" beast has been neglected by its previous owners, and it now falls to me ( and a well paid mechanic for now ) to breathe some life, and apply some TLC to this Toyota.
Currently in the shop for a engine swap, I live in a apartment, and it's not something I can do myself in my driveway. After I purchased it, I noticed it has some worn belts, and leaky valve covers, so I took it in for a tune up, below is a picture of what they found, the oil packed in as hard as dirt, ( 4runner has 240k miles ) Seems, the previous owner wasn't aware that cars need a oil change every once in awhile, surprised it actually still ran, had plenty of power, and didn't smoke at all.
