all power windows at once?

I just picked up a 98 Limited and as I was driving around today I noticed what a hassle it is to, put all 4 windows down, open the sun roof and put down the rear hatch, THEN have to close them all back when you park. Has anyone ever created/planned out a MASTER window switch??

I have never heard of anything like it. Sure would be neat though.

Atleast the 99+ 4runners have the one touch passenger front window and one touch moonroof..

One touch open. Not one touch close. Never really thought about it but yeah it sucks having to close all my Damn Windows. I know people have modded their switches to have auto up/down rear window and auto open/close moonroof. But nothing on the back 2 doors. Would be nice

Just need a window module like that with more channels, or find a cheaper one so it would be affordable to buy 3. The only real pain about it is the sunroof with its two positions. It would be tough to have it close from all 3 possible open positions.

You could directly wire everything, but you would have to diode isolate everything to avoid back feeding when you wanted to use the original switches individually.

I would also LOVE this, anytime it's warm enough I open all the glass on the truck, and it takes a while to get them all opened/closed. Can the one touch weitch from the '99+ sunroof be adapted to older trucks?

Warm enough?? Ha. In Houston, I have to wait until December before I can roll down all the glass. It was 79 degrees here yesterday.

To the OP, good idea on the all auto, but it sounds like it would be a lot of trouble to make it happen.

I helped my buddy put one of these in his accord. It only had 3 windows but the motors are way slower then ours.

I thought about putting one in the runner but it would be a pretty big hassle, and being that my last runner had manual windows im just happy i dont have to stop the truck to roll the back windows down.:trophy:

It was about 12F here this morning, and it's going to get a lot worse before it starts getting better, lol.

At least with concerning the auto up/down on both driver and passenger windows you might try to find out if just the switches are needed and buy just the driver's unit from a junkyard.

I know alot of cars manufacturers do have all windows down with one touch but do any have all up with one touch? I don't think any do or very few do since with that option they would be opening them up for a lawsuit when some kid gets his head caught in a window due to an unattentive parent. This is why the sunroof closes in two stages.

Not quite true ... Toyota try's to sell the sunroof as a multi position sunroof. My IS300 was the exact opposite of the 4runner, and closed with one touch, but opened in two positions. I think my Scion is the same way. When I had the IS, jumping between the 4runner and Lexus would always mess with me, same switch, but different function.

On the windows, you are correct, a lot of the 80's 90's Toyotas that had auto down, could have auto up just by removing a small tab. They had the ability there, but it wasn't available in this country for a long time.

Imagine being able to hit the button for the hatch window on the key fob and they all roll down. I'm not even worried about the sunroof. I may look into this more.
