I installed an OME 3 inch lift about a month ago, then I put on 275/70/17 tires. I asked the shop to align the truck but they said they couldnt due to a bad tie rod. I replaced the tie rod about a week after and took it back again.
This time they said they couldnt do it because the couldnt get the other tie rod loose to adjust or or the bolts to adjust the camber etc. So I go buy all the parts to replace this stuff. In the mean while, I have driven around 700-900 miles on the truck lifted with zero issues. I cant even tell it's out of alignment but I know it is due to the lift.
So I go to replace the other tie rod and the bolts but I was able to break the bolts free with a breaker bar and impact gun. Shocking the the shop couldnt do it, I was pretty disappointed because I got them all free in 15 mins.
Anyway, I just took it back to the shop AGAIN and they aligned it but said it's not perfect because of one of the camber bolts was not working right but it's only 2degrees out and it shouldnt matter. The toe is perfect.
So I just picked it up, was driving it home which is about 6 miles away. The truck is driving great, I am going about 70mph and about to exit and all of a sudden the steering wheel jerks right hard for no reason. So hard, I thought I must have blown a tire. It scared the CRAP out of me because the damn thing swayed so hard.
I exit and get out and the tire is fine. Now I am scared to death to drive it. I drive it home at like 40 mph and no more issues. I turn back and forth, do circles in the neighborhood, I cant get anything to screw up. I looked under the truck for anything loose, nothing I could see, lug nuts tight and it appears the nuts on the caster bolts are tight and the tie rods. Any idea what could cause something like this? I am obviously going to take it back to the shop but I have a feeling they are going to say they cant find anything wrong.
