I saw this yesterday. Pretty sick little "Mini Cooper" he had. Came up a bit short and nosed over. In-cab footage was intense. Did u see his eyes when he realizes he ain't makin it!? :scared:
As anyone who has ever jumped anything with an engine driving the wheels can tell you, you can change the in-air attitude of the vehicle with the throttle. My own experience is with dirtbikes.
The gyroscopic effect of the wheels/tires has a noticeable affect on the vehicles in-air attitude.
Of course aerodynamics have a larger affect on the attitude of the vehicle in the air. But I think he wouldn't have rotated so far forward, if he had stayed on the gas, keeping those big, heavy tires spinning.
Edited to add: I can't believe they don't have a window net in place to keep his arms inside the car. He is lucky he didn't lose an arm. With all the money that was obviously spent on this stunt, you would think they would hire competent people to see to such an obvious safety concern.

It was a GoPro sponsored stunt. GoPro is based in San Mateo, Ca.
As for his neck, it's a little hard to tell, but I think he might have a HANS device in place. If not, that's an even worse basic safety equipment oversight.

There was no HANS device.
And, just because Go Pro sponsored it, doesn't mean anything. You know how much shit other companies from the US "sponsor"? They have nothing up do with the safety regulations, equipment used, or anything else.
All it means is that Go Pro gave them some money. Or cameras. Which, it seems like the whole crew has.
I thought I saw some attachment points on the back of his helmet briefly visible during the big jump, so I went back and reviewed the video.
There is a HANS device attached to his helmet which is clearly visible as he is carrying the helmet, at 2:10 in the video. I'm glad the safety people weren't completely clueless.
