Alternator connections 3Y YN60

Hey guys. The PO of my truck has hacked wiring up and caused all sorts of problems and headaches for me.

On the back of my alternator there are two stud connections, both marked 'B'. Positive connector is attached to one. Just wondering if hooking it up to the other would be a bad move? I have a service manual but can't find anything pointing me to the correct stud.

Not sure I've ever seen two studs on an alternator. I realize that's not much help, but at least it's a free bump?

I'm not familiar with the 3Y, is it a diesel? Maybe two studs to charge two batteries?

I have, but the ones i have seen have some sort of capacitor attached to one. The alternator has been reco'd but the auto elec only worked with what I gave him and he's never seen the car.. After reading some more I found some info on yotatech regarding mid 80's 4runners and their dodgy charging systems. I have 3 voltage regulators that I've acquired and tested. Two non gen 'digital' units, and a NOS mechanical unit. Nothing changes my problem of charge light on and no charge to the battery.

My plan now, Is to remove the stock alternator and external regulator and swap them for a GM single wire, which I'll install as a three wire using some of the factory harness and some I'll have to create from scratch. Seems like the easiest and most forgiving option, removing the external reg all together and having everything happen in the one spot.

Maybe I'm being ott with my plan but I'm absolutely over this particular gremlin..

3Y is a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder petrol with a dirty old carby on top. Makes my life a little easier hahaha
