Hey guys,
I have an 87' 4Runner with a fresh rebuilt 22re motor only 9500 miles on it. In the time since I rebuilt it I've gone through 3 alternators now and I'm starting to wonder if there's something I'm missing. The original one was bad so I got a new one from autozone. It was fine for probably 3-4 months then stopped pushing a charge. So I had it checked and it tested bad at Autozone. So I got it replaced and the new one held for probably 3 months then the same thing happened. But this time the test checked out on the machine but I replaced it anyway to be safe. The current alternator in my truck has been in there a month and the same problem is coming up. My stereo will cut in and out charge light comes on and now it's just totally dead won't even click or turn over. Oh and the battery i got back in April it's an interstate. Can I really be getting bad alternators or do I have another problem?
