Alternator replacement problems

Allright so it's been awhile since i've replaced my alternator, but I never remember it being so difficult. The old alternator came out easy, but as soon as I went to install the new one I could not get it to squeeze into the slot where the top pivot bolt is. The top of the alternator where the bolt screws into seems to be ever so slightly to large to fit and I am having the hardest time getting it into place. Anyone else ever have this problem?

Mine slid right in. No issues at all. Autozone alternator if I recall.

Check your parts first and make sure its the correct stuff other option would be to Sand down a few thousands and wa la fits nice and tight:eyebrows:

You should not be having to do more than one alternator. Non Oem I'm guessing.

Tap her in lightly with a hammer.

Chriss you shouldn't have to sand down anything or even have to tap it in place. Check your small sleeve bushing that pivot bolt goes through. It's probably not flush. Check out my link:

I had the exact same issue when I installed my alternator this week. Rock_Rat is dead on with his quick fix. I used it, and it worked perfectly.
