I've done it twice. I had to do it from the top as I recall there being something in the way from doing it from the bottom.

BUT if you take enough parts off, i'm sure you can get it out any way possible, lol :smash:
 
I was informed that my V8 alt. was pulled from the passenger wheel well/bottom, while on a lift, @135K, replaced with a Denso unit.

I changed my alternator by watching this exact video. It's very informative, but just make sure you have the right tools.

I did it at another members house. I have a V8 also.

You'll need the usual tools plus a ratchet strap to go from the bottom. In order to get to the third bolt you need to ratchet down on the power steering pump pulley to hold it in place, then remove the nut and pull off the pulley. I didn't have to lift the truck or take off a wheel, just removed the skid plates and strapped the power steering pulley to something. I think I strapped it to the lower control arm but it has been a while since I did it.

Be sure to get the electrical plug and the wire that is clamped via a nut removed before you let the alternator drop.

Slid mine out the passenger wheel well where the front splash guard goes, that was the easy part. The stud bolt though, what a nightmare.
 
So I got the alternator out in about 90 minutes. Did everything per the video and did not need to use a ratchet strap.
