Alternator

I'm mulling over putting in a new alternator before commencing a road trip. I'm pretty much stock electrically, but do have some extra lights and heated seats. I don't need a really high output setup, but a few more amps would be nice. Right now I'm looking at either a CS-144 or to replace the 70 amp Denso in my '96 T4R with an 80 amp Denso from a '99 4Runner. 10 more amps ain't much, but I guess it's better than nothing. My question: Is the 80 amp alt from a '99 3.4 a direct fit for a '96 3.4?

I went with the 80 amp Denso 210-0434 and installed it last night. It's an exact fit on a '96 3.4 4Runner even though it's not listed as being a replacement for the '96-'98.
