Where about in Houston are you? I'm in Clear Lake area.
Well I messaged a fellow member on here that lives in Houston and he gave me his friends number at an auto shop and they quoted me 425. I might find a break shop for under 300
Ashton, where in Houston are you?
I've never had a brake failure due to bad brake fluid.
If I have a mechanic tell me I should change my brake fluid every 50K, I would find a new mechanic.
Check your owners manual. Every vehicle I've owned since the mid 80's says the flush the brake fluid every 50k miles. Brake fluid is hygroscopic (absorb water). It's an easy job...takes less then an hour.
Not that I disagree with flushing the brake fluid, but Toyota does not recommend any type of maintenance regarding brake fluid.
No Toyota doesn't directly but most dealers do. Also if you have taken your own vehicle (not 4runner...) to a track day event most will ask for evidence that your brake fluid has been changed in the last 6/8 months.
On my non Toyota car it comes up for brake fluid change every 24 months on the maintenance display.
Been to a track several times never once asked about my brake fluid.
