Am I screwed ?

Plastic film on the inside passenger door window started to peel and my wife peeled off the whole thing. Now I have hazy passenger door window full of streaks and gunk and nothing I've tried will get it clean. Am I screwed ?

I've had good luck with Goof Off. Its used to remove tree sap and other sticky stuff.

The window tint? Try Goof Off and see if that works or a razor blade with window cleaner. You could probably take it to a window tint shop and get it fixed pretty easily.

Don't use a razor blade, you'll scratch the shit out of your glass.

Try goof off or goo gone and some elbow grease.

I took tint off once by using a black garbage bag, soapy water and sunlight, plus goo gone and a lot of rubbing.

but Id either call a tint shop and ask them or just have them do it. I know the one by me has a product they use and sell specifically for this purpose.

Be careful working with Goof Off - it'll melt your door panels, if left on there. Goo Gone should work fine with no ill effects.
And you should be fine with a razor blade. I've never scratched a window with one.

Spend $20-30 on a cheap steamer and it will make it easy to clean with a razor safely.

another vote for a new razor blade, WD40 sprayed on a rag, works very well also

Any kind of alcohol plus a razor blade. FYI alcohol eats most adhesives....next time peel it in such fashion that it doesn't leave the film! Up not down

Thank you. Didn't appear to be tinted as it looks the same as the other window. But I'll try the solvents and elbow grease. And no, it didn't happen twice. I just don't know how this forum works yet. Thanks again.

If you are careful use Acetone. Just a little on a rag goes a long way and cleans disintegrates any residue.

Like they said though, cover your door panels and switches. Don't want these chemicals getting onto your molded parts.

Tint shops use steamers to dissolve the adhesive.

Right WXman, I topped in a shop to see what they'd charge and thr owner told me he would charge $50 for the 2 windows that I wanted de-tinted and that a steamer at Wal-Mart is $30. Quick, no muss, no fuss and I've since found other uses for the steamer.
