Back Story First: The front brakes on my '03 were trashed when I bought the car. In an attempt to prolong the inevitable, I just bought the cheapest set of pads I could find and slapped them in there. The front rotors were still trashed and were eating up the cheap pads very quickly. I planned on ordering a Power Stop Complete kit for the front and rear, then reality hit. I broke my back and have been off work for the last month. I still plan to take a road trip to CO in Sept, but I needed to get the car in shape and money is tight. I was looking around the web, and came across a set of just the front rotors, JBR1121XPR, drilled and slotted, for $80.00. The description said that they were "used, in good shape". I was skeptical, but for $35.00 cheaper, i took the chance.

They showed up today. SCORE!! They were brand new, and did not appear to have been installed. They were in the original box, in a box, in a box. I'm sure that someone bought them and returned them. Either way, they work for me. I used them with the high end PS pads. $130 total I'm happy with that. There's still a used set on Amazon, $71.23

I'm not happy since now my front rotors are warped. A couple years ago I had my rotors turned and installed EBC greenstuff pads. They worked great until a couple months ago. I regret not buying rotors. I'll never turn them again.

I cringed while researching and pricing out rotors and pads. There are a lot out there and some mixed reviews. I really wanted to stick with a premium blank and EBC pads again. In the end I ordered the Power Stop rotors and Z23 pads for all 4 corners. It was 283.00 with my Prime membership. I'll see how it goes and at least the rotors won't be chattering any longer.

I've never had luck turning rotors on late model cars, I assume it's because of how cheap they are produced. I didn't even consider it this time around
