hey all! just joined... i'm a member over at yotatech and also autopia.org but just found this site.

first question is: has anyone built a false floor/amp rack, kinda like this one? oh, this guy has other cool pics at http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/193624/5 but I'm not going to do the sub in the floor deal.

Any help?

I have seen false floors before, I have also seen a false back behind the back seats, but the neatest one I have seen is the sub in the little compartment on the right rear. I have seen this done more than once. It may not work the best there but it doesn't take up any room.

(I assume your are talking about the third generation, since your pic is of a third generation.)

Yes, 3rd Gen. Sorry, an '02...should have specified before.

While I thought of the storage rack there, i have 2 amps and a capacitor...so by themselves they wouldn't fit in there (without fiberglassing a custom enclosure).

I was thinking that what this guy would be nice, because the 'unused' part of the floor (where amps are not) could be hinged to become hidden storage compartments (to keep rags, jumper cables, emergency kits, etc).

Just wondering if anyone has attacked a project like this or has pictures of other ones that they've seen. Thanks for the input!

General question about the false floors...can one still haul heavy equipment on it? What is the weight limit on those?

I think it'd depend on how you built it. If you use good wood and put a decent amount of cross-beams to hold up the middle (large) section, i'd think you could hold a decent amount.

That's my plan at least. :)
