An 03 Sport with 3,400 miles???

Hey there all didn't see a newb introduction thread so I am posting here.

I just picked up a 2003 4Runner Sport V8 with only 3,447 miles on it lol. No that's not a typo it's really 3,447 not 34,000 lol. I picked it up from a friend of mine who doesn't drive that much obviously. I must say I've always been in love with the 4Runner ever since Toyota came out with them. I am really happy with this vehicle and looking forward to being a part of this community, take care.

Congrats on your new ride and Welcome to forum. 3447 miles on odo is nice. First thing: change engine oil. Also, get Homelink if it doesn't have one.

I've made up the difference. I have 72,000 happy miles in my '03 SE. Enjoy, you still may be in the warranty, so have everything checked out and I would recommend changing the oil too, maybe all fluids as it has probably sat idle for long periods of time.

Thanks for the welcome guys. The oil was just changed with Mobil 1 Synthetic a couple days ago it's the trucks 2nd one lol. The vehicle didn't really sit that much, well I guess it did but he drove it about once a week. He's retired military and just used his vehicles to go from the from home to the doctor or maybe the store. I was very fortunate to have landed this 4Runner all the one's I've seen for sale have rediculous miles on them and are still pretty expensive.

Also what is "Homelink"???

Oh ok I thought that's what it might be but wasn't sure. Thanks for the heads up but the garage I have doesn't have a garage door opener anyways so it's all good.

3400 miles?! So that's roughly 1133 miles a year or 94 miles a month. Wow. I suggest giving it a good wash, clay, wax, and taking it on a looong road trip to get some serious engine time in. It'll burn the cobwebs out.

Don't forget to fart in the driver's seat. Only then will it officially be yours.

Yeah I couldn't believe it either ha ha. I am taking it to AZ next weekend for memorial day so that'll be my road trip in it. From here it's about 400 miles to where I'm going so it'll be a nice drive.

Here's a question I had. I've noticed on all the 04 and up the fender covers and bumpers are painted the body color. Mine aren't, was that only an option on the Limited in 03? I don't see too many that have the unpainted balck bumpers and fenders like mine around.

Who cares, stock or not, the 4Runner kicks ass. Mine's totally stock and I've whored it out here already, I love looking at everyone elses too. Plus it gives everyone a baseline to look back at when you finally do get your mods on lol.





And about that driver seat, If they could make a way to capture the methane through the foam in the seat, and use it to fuel the car, then I'd almost never have to stop at the gas station. Problem is, I have leather seats. I'd have to have some perforated leather inserts installed so the ass gas osmosis could occur :biggrin2:

Sans the sulfur TSB both driver and 4runner would both be farting the entire trip. I just imagined the 4runner at a stop and "clunking" the drive shaft while at the same time it spontaneously lets out a fart. (I'm here laughing to myself about it while my co-workers are wondering just what the hell is wrong with me)

Oh sorry, back to topic - the early gray cladding was for the SR5 and Sport for early '03 models. The color keyed cladding was standard for the LIMITEDs at the time I believe. At some point in the mid '03 model year, all the 4runners had color keyed cladding (I think, I could be wrong).

great, that beats my 98 Rav4 that I bought in end of 2002 so it was also 4 (maybe 5 if you count it that way since the 03s were out) with 6,700 miles on it.

In late April of 2003, Toyota began including the painted fender flares and bumpers on SR5 and Sports as standard equipment. Any 2003 SR5 or Sport produced before then had the gray cladding.

Cool thanks for the info. Like I said I never see any around that have unpainted fender flares and bumpers like mine, it is kind of nice to have something a little different. I also think it makes the truck look a little more agressive

Congrats on your new truck! I had a 2003 Sport and it was a great truck. Only thing is I passed 3,000 miles after about 6 weeks!
