I ordered a reman 5vzfe from yota shop.

I took 2 days of vacation so I could carefully install it. it arrived and looked ok... after I cut the first plastic off I see this. ugh. called yotoshop... sent picture. ok lets get it sent back.

I did not unwrap it any further, once I saw that I was like nope.

the thing that kills me is it took 1 month to get it on the ground in my garage. now it will take another month to get a less busted one into my garage.

will see I would just replace the head but the shippers also broke the pallet the engine was on so... focking shipping. I have seen more things destroyed in shipping. it makes me sick how much money they waste.

I don't know I'm almost to the point of tossing in the towel on the entire 3rd gen right now. it's not the fact that I have spent the last 20 years owning them and loving them. I'm just really really beyond depressed because this is going to kill my entire summer road trip schedule.

if I can get a 79 series LC I might just do it. I see there is a group of guys who are importing them now. it's very tempting. for only 85K you can get brand new 79 series from AU. it's tempting.

I enjoy doing things myself. It’s not that. If it was just me that would be great but I’m subject to the forklift guy who hates Toyota and rams my new engine into the scrap metal bin in Chicago.

4.7 liter turbo diesel, solid front and rear axles, floating axles. 1 ton Toyota drivetrain everything. 35” tires without any modifications. Front n rear lockers standard. Free wheel front hubs with from the cab lock unlock.

It is still a ton of doe. More than I paid for my first house. It is a land cruiser and probably one of the toughest more reliable trucks on the planet.

Ford is asking 70-80K for their trucks, and that 450 super duty is 100K. Stuff be crazy now days.

Only one curse at a time that’s my policy. You get 2 or more going at one time and they start working together to create a compound curse mobius loop where everything’s breaks and you can never escape. Wait I just described real life.

Things don’t get really serious until the internet or TV stop working.

Don't give up. Just shelve the project for the time being.

If it was not for the land rover I would be stranded. the rover has been 100% perfect no issues whatsoever. even off-roading it was pretty fun, it goes places, very capable, I was a bit surprised it handled some things very well.

I have 15 days of road trips planned here in the next 2 months. that is the biggest disappointment spending time out driving around with my family having a good time.

it's when you have expectations and they are crushed like a rose on the heels of very mean shipping people. This is one of the true terrors of life itself!
