so can anyone confirm whether or not you can actually CLEAR codes with this?

I havent personally cleared a code from my truck but there is the option to do so under the app. From the main screen on torque hit menu and click fault logs and under there it has an option that says clear logged faults. So the option is there.

I just bought the full version of Torque today and something happened to the original download. I'm not exactly sure what, because it didn't show as failed or anything. I just went back to the app in the app store, clicked on the button that now said "Purchased" and just redownloaded the app. It's on my phone now and runs fine.

Yes you can clear logged faults. I find the app to be very useful in diagnosing problems. Cheapest way I know of.

Get the BAFX brand from Amazon. Mine works great and minimal lag.

On a side note, does anyone know if leaving the dongle plugged in will drain the battery? I keep unplugging it when I step out but if anyone can confirm that there is no affect then that would be great.

good question which I hadn't considered, although I was planning to just leave it plugged in all the time (if possible)...

Yes, it will. Atleast mine does. If I leave it in and don't drive the runner for a week or two it will slowly kill the battery. Takes awhile but it will drain it.

Well, I just took a look at the wiring manual for the '02. The only power connection to the D7 datalink (OBDII) connector I can find is fed from the ignition (key on) circuit. Your year might be different or I could be wrong about the other wires. My wired connector stayed plugged in during my recent 5-week trip to Brazil and she started right up when I got back. Is the BT transmitting with key off? That is, can you sync to it?

If the light is on, good bet it is operating and WILL run your battery down. As I said, mine is wired, not Bluetooth, and the light definitely stays off with the key off.

The only wire manual I have seen for the 3G is the '02, so I have no way of looking at other years. But it is not unlikely that Toyota decided to make this change along the way.

Yes, mine is bluetooth and the lights on it will stay on with the key out of the ignition. It stays synced and will send data with the key out of the ignition.

Yeah, I found it. There is a second source. The 7.5 AMP OBD fuse is powered straight from the battery and goes right to the plug. I retract my earlier statement. Sorry. It's only about 240 pages of wire diagrams.

I recently purchased this adapter:

It was THE cheapest one I could find. I think it ended up being $15 with free shipping. It also looks like it's the smallest one that is made. It works like a champ, and I have left it plugged in for about 2 weeks now, and I haven't noticed any effect on the battery. It just has a LED that flashes every few seconds when not synced (even with car off). I do drive my 4runner every day, but I would imagine it would take a looooooong time for that LED to have a noticeable effect on the battery.

Just picked up an OBD2 reader and the Torque Pro. This thing is pretty cool.

Real time trans temp, coolant temp, air flow, MPG actual and average (not sure on accuracy yet) read error codes etc etc. There is a loooong list of info that can be seen from this device.

For under $30 for the reader and app it's a steal.

Took about 1 minute to figure out - plug in and play.
