Today we lost another beloved 4Runner it made the ultimate sacrifice for it's owner [MENTION=99834]rn_trauma903[/MENTION] .

A driver that was driving Head up ass made a left turn trying to beat a light into H. Her and the passenger are ok but one went to the hospital via ambulance.

We will see in the next few days if it is a total but I'm guessing yes by pictures just because it is a 97.

Buy it back from the insurance company on the cheap, pick up a Tacoma front clip, then get beefy plate bumpers and a lift on the insurance's tab!

You are all awesome. Farmerjon, yes, it happened in Casper. I was taking my best friend to the airport. The other guy tried to turn in front of me, and I was going too fast to avoid him.

Nope, no airbag deployment….although if you count the local fire medics, there were a lot of airbags. And I have to work with all of them, so I'll never hear the end of this one…:doh:

HELL YES!

If I were closer I'd help with this. I actually just priced out most of what you need just for the hell of it a couple days ago. This is what I came up with, all the pricing, free shipping, and all from eBay. You'll obviously need more like the lights, turn signals. and I'm sure some other small things. It's also recommended to use the Tacoma core support, saves a lot of time doing it this way. You'll also need to find a way to match the fender flares, or just not run them. You'll have some fitting issues since this is not a perfect bolt on situation. I would say that this would be a good all day Saturday and Sunday job.

Ehhhhhh, with a corner impact like that, the whole frame could be askew. If you do that, be sure to get a good shop to check out the frame first. You could have a cracked weld somewhere on the frame that isn't very obvious but could fail after a while.

I'm sure I can build a T-Runner. It has been done before so there are write ups on it. As the guys said, I'll just need a core support from a Taco. You will have to find new fender flairs for take off all the limited molding around the truck to make it look clean. There are options. Like the other guys said though, I'm also worried about the frame. Until we know that well just wait and make a decision after that. If it is still strait and good. I'm hooking this thing up on there $$$$$$. I'm just glad you are ok!

All true, but that damage doesn't look that bad to me. Looks like the other car absorbed a lot of the energy too. And one air bag did blow, most people call it a tire. Get it checked, then Fix It!
 
Glad you and your friend are ok. We all love our vehicles. Many more than the average person should. But in the end, they are just that.

I agree with this, some of the reason I lifted and armored mine is because simply other drivers scare the shit out of me. Of course there is the wheeling I do too though.
 
Do yourself a favor and use the insurance money to buy another 4Runner, perhaps a newer one. Like mentioned before, there could be other damage that you can't see. And do you really want to have a vehicle with a salvage title? When my '97 got totalled, I turned around and used the insurance money to buy a '99 with fewer miles.
