doing kind of the same thing, accept I just went to the junk yard found a whole new line, put it in only to find my fuel pump mount rusted, so now I have to find a new one of those. hoping it all connects

I tried changing my fuel filter this weekend. What a pain! The rear bolt came off without a hitch, but we couldn't get a wrench in there to undo the front to save our lives. I have to get an angled or adjustable head wrench so that I can get up in there. Do I also have to remove the bracket that holds it to the frame, or does it just kind of slide out once you undo both sides of the line?

I had to remove the whole bracket to get mine out. there was alot of rust up in there. Relocated my filter as well so next time wont be too bad.


Havnt had an issue with the rubber yet other than having to put smaller clamps on the lines after a few weeks.

Didn't realize the 3.0 used hard lines. I'm lucky to be using rubber lines on my 22RE. I definitely would have broken a hard line in my engine swap. The fuel filter is located in a pain in the ass location once the engine is in.

+1 on never taking an older truck to the dealership. Most of the techs probably haven't worked on anything older than 10 years. And their training matches that experience. Lol.

Glad you could get it fixed. Ive had rubber line on my 92 for about 3 years now. No leaks.

Im waiting to get the new fuel pump that goes in the gas tank on tuesday than I will be doing the filter, and reconnecting the fuel tank mount assembly since mine rusted through. Dam old trucks lol but no payments :banana:

I have a Tech at my Local dealer that owns and DD's a 92 4dr runner with a 3vz so i feel pretty comfortable taking my truck there. But their rates are rediculous and they have to fix things "to factory spec" which could mean more parts and money from the customer.

im so going throught this exsactly

I have the tank out, and all the line up to the filter. i've resealed the tank, and dropped a new sending unit and pump in it.
Next i have to decide if a remove the filter and risk damage to the line to the engine, or just not push my luck.
Every bone in my body says replace the fuel filter. it's going on 20 years old..lol

My question, how does the new Toyota fuel line get inserted in place? This is the line from the tank to filter/

I did the high pressure rubber fuel line and never looked back. Dealing with the rusted easy to break metals lines is a pain.

If only brake lines were that easily replaced.
