i have replaced my ks and the pigtail, and still have the code 52. only way its driveable is if i have the distributor fully maxed out, otherwise the thing literally can not pull its own weight. checked all of the reisistance within the distributor and everything is within spec. im lost.

KS was it a OEM

I too have has issue with a KS. which was only solved by a Toyota OEM sensor. Yes i had to replace the KS twice. Part number 89615-20010 for my 1991 3.0

Didn't you start a thread on this like a month ago? It's much easier to troubleshoot and get help in one open thread vs two about the same issue. If you've replaced both the knock sensor and pigtail, keep working your way backward all the way to the ECU. You can replace the harness wiring from the pigtail to the ECU pin with shielded cable. Do a search, this isn't a new issue on this 20+ year old truck. There's a finite list of things that can cause the code.

And like I mentioned in your other thread, set your timing properly and leave it alone. I've done all the above mentioned things to permanently try to rid myself of the 52, but it comes back whenever it wants with no apparent rhyme or reason(which is leading me to suspect the ECU components). But it's certainly still driveable when that code pops up.

My other thread was a no start issue... I have the thing started and have driving it for a month, but I replaced the knock sensor and pigtail with oem parts and yet still having the same issue...

So you replaced both the sensor and pigtail, driving it for a month without issue and now all of a sudden the code is back or been driving it for a month with the CEL on? Either way, you have to chase the issue back through the wiring if you replaced the sensor and pigtail(blue Toyota sensor is what you bought?) and then possibly through the ECU. There's another post a few threads down and looks like he's chasing the same issue. With no luck either. It's a stubborn code, the components that control it are old and can do wonky things. Mine popped on at a stop light with the truck not even moving. If I were you, I would be rewiring the main harness to the ECU shielded cable at this point.

And I know it's tempting to do things to the distributor to get the power back, but you're not helping matters throwing the timing way off the chart.
