Another Entune Issue 2014+

I feel like talking about problems with Entune is like beating a dead horse around here, but I haven't seen anyone post about this problem yet. This has happened twice, both right after pairing a new phone. At first it allows me to go to the settings and add a new phone just as you would expect. Then for some reason, the bluetooth and phone functionality completely stop working and are grayed out as shown below. (almost like they do when the vehicle is in motion, but this is parked in the garage. You can tell because the "navigation" button also grays out when in motion.) The last time this happened I just said f*ck it and let it be, and after a few days it starting working again. Now that it's happened again, I find it more annoying and don't want to wait.

After reading the whole fiasco on updating Entune to version 5.x, and realizing it's different for 2010-13 and 2014+, my question is this: Has anyone found out how to reset the the head unit on a 14+? I know you could remove the 30a fuse for the 2010-13, but per the thread that wasn't working for 14+'s and when I called the dealer I asked him that and he even said "that used to work on the old ones, but doesn't anymore." I'm thinking that a factory reset like that would solve my issue, but reseting the unit doesn't seem as simple as removing the fuse for a few hours anymore. The other problem is I have an aftermarket amp spliced in to the HU speaker outputs, so I don't think the dealer will be willing to give me a warranty replacement.

Hi 4Rager,

We did locate the Memory support (HOT AT ALL TIMES) audio system fuse on the '14 4Runner. It's name has been changed from AMP 30A fuse to RAD 20A fuse. It's still in the main fuse/relay box (Engine room) and does reset the hu's processor. The question is... is your particular navi problem a result of 'excessive temporary cache history file storage', or a damaged/out-of-date operating system... You can pull that fuse and let it remain out for a four hr duration; nothing to lose, or take it to the dealership and have them install the latest Entune version available, either way, Rgds!

It let me pair the new phone just fine, then all of a sudden it those features were grayed out for a few days until it randomly started working again. Now I got a new iPhone and once again it let me pair it just fine, but is now ignoring the bluetooth and phone features.

I haven't taken it to the dealer because it was just last night that I finally finished reading the 11 pages of the entune update thread to realize that as a 2014+ owner I can't do the flash drive update. Considering I've had it since Nov 2013 and the update history shows it's never been updated, I will have them look at it at my next oil change in a few weeks. I'm just afraid they'll say, "you modified the sound system, so we can't look at it under warranty."

That being said, I hope the fuse trick fixes it.

I wouldn't mention anything about the sound set-up being modified. Don't hide it, but don't offer it up unless asked. Most likely the first thing they'll do is update it and send you on your way.

Good call. It looks stock unless they happen to look under the passenger seat. To your point, I've learned being naive but firm with the dealer seems to get the best results.

I left the 20a RAD-1 fuse out all night and unfortunately it didn't fix the issue. I couldn't even tell if it reset the head unit because I realized I've never listened to anything other than bluetooth audio or Pandora, neither of which will load under these circumstances, so I can't simply check and see if it reset my EQ settings. I have an oil change coming up, so I think I'll just schedule it early so they can look at this too. To be perfectly honest the Entune head unit is not that impressive to begin with, so if this ends up being a long term issue I might just replace the head unit. Then I could run RCA's directly to my amp and get rid of my LC6i too.

Take it for what its worth, I had similar issues with my 2012 Entune and my Galaxy S6....

I stopped messages syncing over Bluetooth on my phone and I haven't had any connectivity issues since then. It solved my problem, but not sure if it will help you out any..

If you are temporarily able to BT connect your phone again you can try to update your software with the entune smartphone app. Mine just randomly asked me one day if Id like to update from the entune screen. I clicked yes and it downloaded the update via the data connection on my phone through the entune app then transferred it to the system via BT.

Well just to follow up, just like last time it randomly started working again. I drove to work this morning and it still wasn't working. Then I was on the phone (I don't know if this has anything to do with it) as I got into the truck, and all of a sudden call transfer to the truck's bluetooth. After call the head unit downloaded an entune update and all iPhone/entune features were working again. (I'm assuming it needed this updated since I was using entune on Android for the last 7 months.)

I wish I found a fix other than just waiting it out, but at least it's working again. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.
