Right now it's just sitting in the drive way not wanting to start. When it was running, when I let the clutch out and give it gas it would hesitat/sputter until it got to around 3000 rpm. Also the more times I started it the longer I would have to crank it to get it to start. By the end it would almost consume my battery. Now it just sits in my driveway waiting for me to fix it but I don't know where else to start. I checked the fuel pressure and it was strong at 36 psi so it's getting fuel. Oh by the way the engine and the truck drivetrain has about 10k on it since its rebuild. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. thanks

do a leak down test, it will tell you a lot and let you know if the head gasket is blown or not, after that check the timing, then check the emission system and catalytic convertor.
those simple checks will determine what is wrong.
are you getting any CEL's?

Pull the codes, whether or not you're getting a CEL. Check for spark at each plug - fuel pressure is fine, but are the plugs wet after cranking it over? Shoot some starter fluid into the intake, see if that helps it turn over. You probably don't need to worry about timing, it shouldn't get progressively worse like you describe. I would definitely check the TPS though, that whole "stumble until 3000rpm" thing is a classic sign of a bad TPS signal.

Just because the fuel pressure is good doesn't mean you have good fuel delivery. There could be a problem with the pulse damper or press regulator.
To be sure you'd have to pull an injector and see if it's actually spraying while cranking. The cold start injector is usually best.

And making absolutely sure you have spark would come first.

Not having a cat conv would only be a factor if the truck was built to meet Cali emissions standards. Fed standards don't have a downstream O2 sensor. But not having a conv won't make it run better either.
