Another lift question lol...

Hey guys I know its beating a dead horse but I know shit about suspensions and I've been reading this forum for a couple weeks and I'm at a point the more I read in the Lift FAQ thread and others I'm getting more confused. We have a 06 sport 4wd v8 with 170k miles and shot suspension. I've decided I want the Bilstein adjustable set at 2.5" for the lift. Seems like its plenty for our needs. I see in the thread the different spring options but I can't figure out if the lifts on the springs shown are in addition to the 2.5 from the Bilsteins set at max or if I can't go that high because "x" spring only goes to 1" (just an example). Also I know I need 4 shocks and I've saved the part numbers from other posts but do I also need 4 springs. Long story short what do I need to get about 2-3" of lift because I know after 3 it gets hairy. I know I could run down the local off road performance shop but they would probably take me to the woodshed. Please don't flame I've read and searched a ton but its all starting to run together. Thanks in advance.

Well, if you're replacing your springs, the answer to your question depends on EXACTLY how much lift do you want and what is your budget. If you want a net gain of 2", you could go with FJ springs and your Bilstiens tweeked (I do not recall the setting). If you prefer the taller 3" lift, you could go OME springs in the front and Toytec Superflex in the back. If you have money to burn, you could go Toytec Boss lift or one of the more expensive iCON kits. Just remember that when you get near 3", aftermarket, extended UCA's are highly recommended in order to keep your caster in spec. So, WHAT'S IN YOUR WALLET??

Yes replacing the springs also. We'd like the 2-3" range. Under 3 for less issues with other parts and at least 2 because we like the lifted look and the extra clearance. Not really trying to burn money because we don't do any hardcore offroading but we do go out to the desert and drive trails to get to some secluded places to camp. Out here you can camp anywhere in the state park which is awesome. If the price difference is minimal we'd like closer to 3 but if its a few hundred dollars for less than an inch we can just do the FJ/Bilstein combo. Like to be close to level (running boards level).

I'm running bilsteins at 2.5 with stock springs. In the rear I have a Daystar 1.5" block. If you don't need to replace the springs don't worry about it. Or you could replace just the rear if you don't want the blocks back there. Or, replace springs and shocks. Most that replace springs only put the front shocks on the first perch up, the .85 height. This gives them 2.5-3" of lift depending on springs chosen..

Just gonna replace all the springs and shocks. Purchased it a few weeks ago and it still has the original XREAS and the springs look original too. 170k miles on the car so just gonna swap it all out and start fresh. Looking like gonna do bilsteins all the way around with FJ coils in front and rear im not sure yet.
