It is really cool to see that the 4.7 can last with routine maintenance. I am planning to keep my recent 04 v8 4wd 4runner for many years to come and this is awesome to see.

It was apparently serviced at the same dealer as the last million mile Tundra. Seems like they may be a little better than the rest.

Nearly 250k on my 01 Silverado when I sold it and it was cleaner inside and out than most of my friends brand new cars. PO took care of it and so did I, all depends on the owner!

Im not sure but the last guy had all the service done at a toyota dealer so I assume it was probably Toyota branded fluids. He may have brought his own fluids though. I dont think the brand really matters though. What matters is the reliable design by Toyota and get all the maintenance done at the appropriate intervals.

I'm just curious if he used Conventional or Synthetic oil and if he used Toyota WS vs some other brand.

I always find it funny that there are Toyota owners out there who buy Toyotas because of their reliability but refuse to follow Toyota recommendations for fluids... especially when it comes to engine oil. You'll see guys post about putting 5W-30 or even 5W-40 in their 5th gen 4runners because they think Toyota's 0w-20 recommendation is strictly in the interest of fuel efficiency and not engine reliability.

Just follow the fluids Toyota recommends FFS, they have been building bulletproof vehicles for years and spend millions in R&D. Don't listen to some idiot online claiming you need 10w60 in your 4runner because you live in Arizona.

I read about this earlier in the week and apparently the owner works as a parts delivery driver for the oil industry and he said he regularly exceeds the payload limits so this vehicle hasn't had the easiest of lives. If I remember correctly the other 1M truck owner did the same job so to reach that number is even more impressive.

The 550K mile 4.7L 4Runner that I test drove earlier this year drove incredibly smooth. Original miles. Aside from a secondary air pump issue, it had not a single issue. The thing drove smoother than lower mileage cars I have driven. Still baffles me of how well mannered it was for the miles.
The guy told me he just had the fluids changed at Jiffy Lube, lol.

So, I think we can agree that these trucks make it pretty darn far on even subpar fluids.
