Another mystery wiring harness question...

So I've been searching and reading all afternoon and still can't find a concrete answer about a specific wiring harness in the center console...

I have a 2007 SR5...no DAC, no 115v plug, no smoker's kit, no heated seats. All three "buttons" on the center console are empty. I want to mod one of the buttons into a USB charging station for my phone. I have the car charger adapter that I can rip apart...I just need some power for it. Which leads me here...

Obviously, the 12v plug is labeled in the pic. What's the other one? It's a 2-pin harness that has a green wire and a red-with-white stripe wire. After poring over various threads, it seems that it's either for the additional cigarette lighter that comes with the smoker's kit, OR the heated seats. But my wiring diagram book suggests that it's for the 115v plug...? I can't tell...

Bottom line, I need a 12v power source for my USB adapter. I don't want to cut/splice my existing 12v plug, as I often use that for my power inverter on long road trips. Any ideas? If I can use the red/green plug, then which lead is positive? If not, what about that 6-pin harness that's in the pic? Can I splice into that? What are the + and - leads on that one?

Looks like it's for the inverter plug. Looks like they're both "dead" - not connected to anything as they both lead to the inverter (which I presume you don't have). Red/white would have been the 115v from the inverter & green was the neg. return to the inverter.

Now I can't remember where the inverter is (left rear 1/4 panel I think) but you could conceivably find 12v & ground in that area, splice into those wires, & you'd have power at that plug. That may be more work than it's worth vs. simply running a new power wire to your console. Hope that helps.

As far as the other one, do you have 2wd (no DAC switch) And GENERALLY speaking in those plugs the green & white with green are the 12v and ground for the parking light circuit to narrow it down.
 
Wasn't the Inverter switch located on the driver's side kick panel though? Or did Toyota duplicate the harness for fun?

Also, does our FSM download have a complete EWD?
 
The inverter switch is left & below the steering wheel, but the actual 115v outlet is in the console.
 
Hmmm. I've seen posts suggesting that the larger of the two unused plugs is actually the one for the smoker's kit...though to me, it makes more sense that it would be the smaller one. Can anybody verify this? Does anyone have the smoker's kit that can (and is willing to) look at the bottom and see which plugs it uses?

I hadn't even thought about the inverter plug option. I'll have to scour the wiring diagram and see what's what. I guess I could also use a voltmeter to test these plugs...? I'll confess that I'm not really skilled at using one. Anybody wanna shed light on what I setting I would use and what I should be looking for?

Really, I'd love to see what plugs the smoker's kit uses. I tried finding pics online, but nobody seems to show the underside....

to have the inverter, u need to buy that unit that is mounted on the driver rear panel, also swtich up front, and that outlet for the center console, i was browsing through the electrical diagrams. the other big plug is for the cig lighter. i sold my ash tray kit long ago, but you need to use the 12v plug and the other on the ash tray kit.
 
Not sure what it is to but figured something to do with seats on Limited's. I had my Sirrius hooked to the 12v, but when I did the 12 always on mod it to would always be on. Found that and realized it is only powered with acc on so hooked the ground to he green and the Sat radio turns off when car is off. Still not sure what it really goes to though. Good luck.

Ok, so the larger plug is indeed for the smoker's kit...the pink/blue wire is the positive and the white/black wire is the ground. Perfect! If that smaller plug is for the 115v inverter, that could work too, provided there's a positive and a ground there. I guess I'll check it out with my voltmeter. I would rather tap into that plug, for the sole reason that it's probably a bit easier than tearing into the larger plug. Hopefully, I can tackle this project this weekend when I'm done bottling my latest batch of beer...

Ha... yeah my install was a little slower today then planned. I ended up using the Green and White wires on the "U" shaped connector (in the background of the picture above). The pink one was on with accessories. The 2 Green ones were on in the "on" position (which was good enough for me). I assumed the two white wires (paired with the green ones) were grounds. Everything seems to be working as expected.

Pink = 12v on during "ACC"
Green = 12v on during "On"
 
2nd gen center console - 2 plugs

Hi all, new to the forum. Recently purchased a second gen 4runner, 1995 SR5.
Was doing a somewhat deep clean and removed the center console so i could clean it well and vacuum the carpet. There are two plugs in the as seen in the attached picture, but the only switch I have is for the rear window (blue plug). Wondering what the other plug is for? some option that didn't come in my truck? Any ideas what it would be?
