Another Rip-off

So I drive by this rig all the time on my way up to VA. It's located at Moyock Muscle in Moyock, NC. My curiosity finally got me, and I pulled in to see what was up with it (part-out, for sale, etc.).....

What was up with it, is this:
1. Blown head gasket
2. Partially parted-out already (trim, shifter, etc.)

And, it's for sale..........for $3,000 :wow:

That's a decent looking truck, and trim can always be replaced. Too bad they want too much. I've been keeping half an eye on the classifieds, waiting to see a nice clean 3.0 with a blown motor...

More research needed. Look it over real good and see exactly what it needs. Offer them $1500 and see what happens. You could always part it out yourself to recoup that much.

No way I would give them $3k!

That's far too much for an incomplete rig with a bad engine, no matter how pretty they think it is. I'd go with the others on this--if you really want it, make some offer below $2k, preferably well below. If they say no, they probably saved you many headaches anyway. There are plenty of these fish in the sea--don't get attached.

I think it just really depends on your "market area"

this one , here in my market just sold for 1200.00 (TIRES AND WHEELS NOT included ) , but has a 302 engine in it

I drive that road nearly every weekend. That 4Runner was there in the fall of 2010 when I bought my '89. I never stopped to look at that one though. What's the deal with Moyock Muscle anyway? Nothing ever seems to leave their lot. I think they are just field car hoarders. For the rest of you, it's a dealer that has hundreds of cars from the 40's through the 70's. Piles of them. The 4Runner would be among the newest on the lot.

One word......Hillbillies

I went in and thought I was going to catch a case of the "Inbred." I was only there for about 10 minutes and I'm definitely DUMBER for it.

I agree. I never see much action around there. May the economy has got em down. Or maybe they're not reputable. Not sure. But they're definitely scary!
