Another starting issue video

This is how I've had to start my truck for the last week or so. First few turns of the key, absolutely nothing. Then usually a half a** attempt to start. Then it will start. I got my battery tested, autozone guy (and I trust them SO much) said the battery was overcharged so that isn't the problem He also said because it will eventually start and pass their "starter test", my problem could be attributed to a bad ignition swich? Thoughts?

Isn't this the bad starter contact problem that is common with these?

That's what my first thought was. But I didnt hear a "clicking noise". And wouldn't my starter just never work? Sometimes it consistently starts first try, and sometimes it does this.

Id just hate to pull the starter out, replace the contacts, and have that not be it.

From what I've read (I have yet to preform this fix) you don't have to remove the starter. Also, 3rd gens are of age that it's only a matter of time till you need to have this done. So maybe you might do it just in case it's to the point it's intermittent?

Mine recently started doing this but not as bad as yours. Do you have any out of the ordinary things going on with your alarm? like inconsistency when locking/unlocking doors? mine beeps sometimes and sometimes its silent...randomly happens. I thought maybe the alarm was possibly my issue since a couple people told me it probably wasn't my starter as like you stated there is no clicking. I have yet to get my battery checked but I've been driving around over a week now with no more problems after having done nothing to fix it.

Deffinitely sounds like a contact issue somewhere. Not the bat prob since it turns over just fine. Check all grounds and ignition wiring even the fuses and relays.

well I went to the stealer and the service guy was quick draw mcgraw, told me I for sure needed starter contacts. Quoted me $285 without even looking it up. He said they do at least one a day (there's a lot of old toyotas around I guess).

I've had batteries that would start just fine one minute and not start at all the next, then start right up the next time. Admitedly in this case, it does start even if it's slow but I'm not ruling out the battery until I get it checked as the start sounds really slow and weak.
