Another stupid lift/level question...

Just got a 2014 trail premium and have some potentially dumb questions on a small lift/ level. Coming from a 135i and other sports cars Im going up instead of down for once!
I don't want or need a full 3" front and 2" back lift/level. But I am afraid that if I go with 5100 set to .8 up front to level Im going to quickly want a little more height.
Is it possible to set the 5100 fronts at 1.75 and add the ToyTec 10mm spacer out back for just a little added lift without being front end high?
I don't plan on any serious off-roading, but I will be off road a lot. I also drive a lot of highway miles and want to be comfortable. Plan on going to 285s soon as well...

You're absolutely correct, it is a stupid question. Of course it is possible to go higher! :p

I've see lots of people here do exactly what you are saying, and they end up with just a tiny bit of rake (front @1.75" notch & rear 1" lift spacer).

I know it's kind of tedious, but if you are curious...scroll through all of these pages in this thread: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/65893-post-your-lifted-pix-here.html

There's pretty much pictures of every single combination imaginable, lol. I sat down for a few hours and did that before I selected my lift components and have not been disappointed with the results, I suggest you do the same just so you have an idea of what you're going to end up with.

Congrats on the new ride btw!

Take it from me - do your research, pick the lift/suspension solution that best meets your needs then double that estimate, and then save your money...

Note that there are at least 3 cyber Monday 20% off deals going on for Icon suspensions so if you go that route - this is the time.

Plus one to reading through the "Lifted" thread. Thats what I did as well, got an idea, PM'd a few people & went from there.

I am now ready to get my lift but am going to wait it out a few more weeks and see if there are any Blk Friday/cyber monday deals.

I would say though, that if you think you're going to change ANYTHING lift wise its better to pay once to have the work done.

Just talked to Miles at ToyTec, and I have decided on just a set of 4 5100's. He said to set the fronts to 1.75" and leave the rears stock for a nice level...

This is exactly what I plan to do on Tuesday with the help of another guy on this forum. However, ToyTec's shipping prices are just outrageous (as far as shipping to me goes), so I will be going with Wheelers Off Road.

Cool, thanks for the info! I was planning on going with the Toytec Ultmate/UCA set up.

KVA=Kilovoltamps?

Nope - my initials.

Check the Demello pricing/options (this would be consistent will all the vendors sans install). The icon setup easily rivals the anything from any other manufacturer.

I do like the icon goods but I would have to wait another month to pay for it....

OP-I looked at the Bilstien 5100 set up, and was close to pulling the trigger. Let me know how you like it!

I would be cautious of this, I remember recently reading someone on here doing that and it ended up being something along the lines of dead level which made it appear to have reverse rake. Plus if you load up anything in the hatch, it's going to sag the rear end and then it will be reverse raking for sure. Perhaps stick to the 0.85 notch if you don't want to do anything about the rear end...

Im really looking to have zero rake, so hopefully it will be dead level at 1.75. Im planning on putting airbags on the rears for support when I have weight or am hauling anything...

Sounds great, rear air bags should definitely fix the rear end squatting problem :)

I think you should definitely be right at around zero rake, when I put in only my front springs it gave me ~2" lift up front and it looked completely level visually, so 1.75 should be just about perfect. Here's a thread with some pictures of what you should expect: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/71661-bilstein-5100-height-settings.html#post661662

Clevelando,

I put the 5100's on my '12 sr5 and have airlift 1000 airbags installed. I put the front shocks at .85" and put the airbags at the min recommended pressure (5psi) and it came out VERY level, with minimal rake. Although the rear was not supposed to be lifted, it actually did get a slight lift...possibly from the airbags, and the truck is fairly level front to back. I wrote it down once but lost my notes...

Lemme go get some measurements and I'll let you know the distance from ground to fender, front and back.

Just measured: 36 1/2" front, 37" back passenger side. Driver side had the same 1/2" difference front-to-back but was 1/2" higher on the front and back...if that makes sense. btw, my gas tank is 3/4 full.

Also, I have 265/70 tires.
