Another Tint Thread

So: As I understand it, 4th Gen's come with 20% on the rear sides and back.

Colorado law has two different rules, you get to choose which to follow:

1) No tint on front sides/ANY tint on rear sides/ANY tint on back

2) 27% all around



So I could fully tint the back to Limo tinting, but then I wouldn't be able to touch the fronts (and I don't really want to do that anyway).

I would like to tint to 27% all around, but stock is higher than that, thus, by definition, I have to follow rule 1...

Anyone gotten around this?

Mine's well past legal all the way around but as you can see i kept the fronts a little lighter but the rears are pretty dark.

You live in Colorado not Cali so the cops don't make a big deal about tint;just have your window down in the event you are pulled over when the cop approachess your car and he won't say a thing about your tint. I unfortunatly know this

Ditto, lived in CO since 1991 and never a prob. ALWAYS at 20%. Every car on the road here is done at 20% with a few 30% here and there. The 30% is just way too light, almost worthless. You'll have no probs...the State Troopers are the worst, just roll it down if you get stopped on the highway and you'll be fine.

I've got mine at 20% to match the rears and have never had a problem (did the same thing with my last two cars as well). I also live in CO. I have a few cop friends and they said they don't care, but they are what I consider the "cool" cops. : Most cops won't pull you over strictly for window tint, unless your car is begging for attention (loud muffler, neon, limo tint, etc.). As others have mentioned, just roll down both windows when/if you get pulled over. Chances are that isn't the reason they pulled you over, and it's a courtesy to open both driver and passenger side windows because you don't know what side of the car they will be approaching from. Also turn on your dome lights at night for more brownie points.

But like Ron said, you live in CO, not here in CA where the cops have nothing else to do. But regardless, I have never had a cop look twice at me in the almost 5 months I've had my truck now. I got the more expensive tint which was $289, there was one for like $239 though, and i'm sure in CO you can get it cheaper than in Southern Cali. The front isn't as dark as I would like, I might have them change it to 20% instead pretty soon, but the back is nice, I got it for privacy so my girlfriend could change in the back for her practice without losers looking in.

I kinda figured I was walking right into that one lol......But the last thing I need at 19 and in college is a kid, so we don't do that anymore. I'd rather spend money on my girlfriend and my 4runner than feeding a baby.

Mine are 20% on top of factory then something "darker than 20%" on the fronts. + a strip on the windsheild

Here are a couple of pics of mine with 20% on the fronts and the rears left stock (so they match). It was taken with my 2mp camera phone so they're not the greatest shots, plus there is a little bit of glare.

They are not a perfect match with the rears, but pretty darn close. As most of you know, the color is hard to match, but that is only really noticeable from the inside looking out.

actually - factory tint is 30.3%.

Local PD used their electronic tint meter and that's what the result was. My doors are 22% and the windshield is 38%. I need to post a picture of mine... having the windshield done really completes the tint.

Hah I feel you on that one, I have had that scare about twice now, and that is not something I need to worry about at this stage in my life...and trust me i have dropped more $$$ on my girlfriend than on my 4Runner haha.

Yeah definitely on that one, I would have already put BFG AT KO's, put the lift on my truck already (I just ordered it the other day) and put a JAOS Brush Guard on my truck already if I didn't spend so much money on her.

Yeah I feel you. I would already have a lift, a real catback exhaust, new rims, a supercharger and full tint on my car if i hadn't bought everything I have for her. I've probably invested about $3,500 in her in a year and a half, but I can say that I do love it, even if I got lots of static for it. Does your girlfriend go to your school cfor college?

Ah lucky you, I'm 650 miles from mine. That 3,500 includes 2 trips home to see her, and one for her to come see me, as well as paying for jsut about everything she wants. YOur right, some people are just like that and if anyone objects, all you tell them is you can do whatever you want with your own money. You earn it, you spend it
