That's painful to watch just like the one with the girl texting while driving:sobbing:
Another critical aspect that was glossed over is; Don't assume it's safe, and pull out in front of other vehicles.
This happens to me on a regular basis while riding. On roads with side streets I do not speed. But that doesn't seem to matter to the zoned-out cagers that seem determined to pull out right in front of me. Their self-serving excuse is always: "I didn't see you". Maybe if they put their phone down and paid attention to driving, they'd notice?
Fortunately I've been riding most of my life, including some closed-circuit roadracing, and know how to get on the brakes HARD, to come to a swift, controlled emergency stop.
Most Riders I see, don't cover the front brake lever at all times. They aren't acutely aware of their surroundings. If they do manage to start applying their brakes in an emergency, it's usually just stomping on the rear brake, and skidding into the car that pulled out in front of them. Or "I had to lay the bike down", which is just code for 'I don't know how to ride, so I panicked and did the only thing I knew to do'.
