HAHA! It was a long, but productive day! The full ICON setup- so pretty!

UCA's, coilovers, along with new rear springs and shocks.

Casualties for the day (there is always something) include:

* Stretched ABS wire (damn if I didn't try super hard not to do that too :redbrick:) - super easy fix though...

* Hatch VS garage drywall battle. Hatch won.

* Hit my damn bald head about 65 times under the truck, lol.

* Boo boo's on my fragile, manicured hands.

* No comment about the farting...


Got me a free lunch and good company, and [MENTION=112177]4RnR Grl[/MENTION] handled the broken ABS wire - and the resulting Xmas tree dash- like a true champ!

We will fix the wire and rewire her *AHEM* turn signals after the alignment @ Hightec!
 
Your garage looks sweet. If you don't mind me asking, what floor finish are you using? I've heard that the rustoleum DIY doesn't hold up as well, so I've been holding off on putting a finish in the garage.

Well, it IS the Rustoleum kit that you buy at Home Depot for $99. It's been on there for over 10 years, I think, and holds up incredibly well.

Before I painted the floor I cleaned it for about a week- no lie- and it was completely spotless except for a few oil stains that would not come up.

I also use ZEP High-Traffic floor wax on top of the paint (also at Home Depot) - just do 3 or 4 coats with a rayon mop. You cannot tell if it's wet or dry, that's how shiny it gets. Every few years I strip the wax with ZEP Stripper and recoat it. The wax makes the floor really easy to clean, any stains from paint, etc come completely off when you strip the wax and it makes the surface even more indestructible.
[MENTION=112177]4RnR Grl[/MENTION] can attest to that! I dropped a 5 lb hammer on the floor quite a few times without even a scratch, not to mention the 4Runner sitting on metal jackstands the whole time.

Good stuff- just prep it right and it'll last!
 
Wow, awesome thread. Your truck looks amazing. I'm definitely giving my garage an overhaul with that coating. Already bought it:)

I have a question though and you seem like a wealth of knowledge on the forum so if you can't answer maybe you will know who can. I am looking to start modding with a lift. I would like the 5100 Billy's with OME coils. Question is, the Billy's say up to 2.5" lift and the OME coils say 3" lift, will these work together? Anyone else feel free to chime in. Thanks!

Yeah- they will work together, just set the 5100's to the lowest setting (stock) and you can use the OME coils to achieve the 3" lift..
 
Independant Fog Light Mod for 2015 SR5

So I want to try the Independent fog light mod (page 2) but I'm curious if this is the same for 2014/2015 4runners?

I haven't had a chance to look at the my fuse box and make sure its the same as the 2010-13 models.

If someone has done this mod for their 14/15 please let me know if it was the same process!

I tried searching, but unfortunately I don't know how to limit my searches to the 5th Gen subforum. Anyway, from reading your posts it seems like you're one of the handiest guys on the boards and I was hoping to pick your brain on a few things.

I'm considering retrofitting the auto headlamp feature on my '14 SR5. Yes, this is a pointless feature since I can obviously just flip a switch, but what can I say - I'm a sucker for an OEM retrofit. My preliminary research leads me to the fact that I will need a light sensor, a new headlight stalk, and a wiring harness for the light sensor (bear with me, I'm getting to the point, lol).

From reading what the 4th Gen guys are doing (http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/103786-oem-automatic-headlight-install.html), it seems the instrument cluster needs to be removed for this mod - do you know of a good step-by-step go-by for this? I know you've done it, and probably have it well documented, but I can't find it.

The second thing is, do you know exactly what is behind the cluster that would be relevant? It seems the light sensor wiring harness plugs into something back here ("main body ECU?"), but I can't quite figure out what is getting unplugged in order to plug in the new harness. Maybe see the thread I linked above if what I'm saying is nonsense, lol.

Anyway, like I said, I have a pretty good idea of the parts I'll need, and sort of a concept of what needs to be done - but the details of how to get the cluster off and what exactly to look for next are eluding me. I just thought I'd ask you for pointers since you seem to know these trucks inside out. Thanks for any tips you can offer.

Relocated the rear diff breather to the taillight area- no holes to drill that way, no routing into the truck, and super easy!

It tucks out of the way nicely- I zip-tied the hose to the black plastic bumper support to keep it in place.

I need to do mine still. Let me know what your weekdays/weekends look like. I like this option a lot better than the gas tank rubber. Good thinking!
