Hub Covers
Hello Antman:
How in the world did you get your hub covers off ? I too wish to paint mine the flat black but do not want to damage them. The back chrome piece on the door is also a pain in my back.
Any pointers dude?

Hey Stevo-
The hub covers come off easily with the wheels off the truck. They just press into holes in the wheels. A simple tap from the backside with a screwdriver handle will pop them out. I guess you already saw this, but here's a link anyway...

Doesn't look too bad now that you buffed it out. Maybe be the first to take that fender off and then straighten it out your self!?
It's a bolt on part and alot of people will need guidance taking them off once somebody ever comes up with a snorkel.

I'm gonna leave this one to the pro's. I'm fairly positive the dent can be straightened by one of those paintless dent removal guys, which I would prefer to a new fender. I actually pushed it out a good bit...with my fingers. The sheetmetal is paper thin.
I am friends with the guys at the repair shop I specified though, so if they do remove it and I can get up there, I'll snap some horribly blurry photos for the good of the community.

Thats a good DIY job.. Am impressed :cheers:It looks much better now that I buffed it out and yanked the bumper out a bit. I just couldn't stand looking at it like that... :wow:

Hey sir, do you know if there is a fuse for the Auto-Unlocking funtion that occurs when you put the vehicle in Park ?

there is a sequence in your manual that you can do that turns off that feature. So that when you put it in Park, the doors all stay locked. I had that same feeling driving through washington DC lol. But, then it becomes a pain in the ass when you want to open the back hatch or back door after the car turns off because all the doors are locked, so you have to manually unlock them.
Either way, it's up to you. It's easy. you have to like put the ignition in ON, and then put it in N and then hold down the lock or something. Anyway, its in the owners manual.

The shop I chose to have repair the damage is running a few weeks behind right now. Rather than have it sit, I'll wait until they can get to it in a few days. They repaired my wife's Honda Odyssey to like new after a nasty collision with a Dodge Ram(irony there, eh?). I like their work!
But...everything is sorted with the Insurance and ready to go.

Carroll Shelby
I just found out that Carroll Shelby passed away yesterday, at 89, and I wanted to pay a little tribute to him in my thread.
He was a man that my Father and I admired very much. We weren't huge, crazed fans mind you- we just appreciated his simple genius. And he was a genius.
Carroll made great contributions to Motorsports throughout his entire life- not just "Shelby" cars. If you have some time, read about how he defeated Ferrari at Le Mans when it was considered an impossible feat.
Cobra Ferrari Wars - The Second Edition of the book
It's an inspiring read, and just part of an incredible legacy he leaves behind.
My Dad was always a "Ford" guy, despite working for GM(!). He owned a brand new '65 Mustang Fastback, with Shelby racing stripes. My parents named my younger sister "Shelby"(don't know how he talked Mom into that) Dad also made sure my first car was a '69 Mustang Fastback. It had Shelby stripes. :cowboy:
For my 30th birthday, my Dad (whom I have mentioned before had seemingly limit-less talents) made me this 1/10th scale replica of an A/C Shelby Cobra. It's constructed entirely out of Mahogany and brass. Wood was always his preferred medium. He Carved this entirely by hand.
The brass pieces- wheels, bumpers, sidepipes, steering wheel, all of it, is hand made by my Father. In person it is simply amazing. It's priceless to me, and I'm not ashamed to admit I cried like a baby when he gave it to me 12 years ago.
I always had plans to have it autographed by Carroll himself. I think even he would have appreciated the talent required to make such a work of art.
That will never happen now. Sad day indeed.
