HA! My girls are bugging me about it (I hate wasting my time at the movies unless it's raining outside and I have a broken leg or something) but I'll probably watch it when it comes out on FIOS...There better be a 4Runner in there somewhere...
I probably should start a new thread. This one has become rather large, lol.
I'm not as interesting in person, and I tend to fart ALOT.

What's up Antman? Found one of my old autometer volt gauge and did your mod without the switch. I'm pretty happy how it came out. I also found a vacuum gauge in my garage and I was wondering if you or anyone can help me figure out were I can connect the vacuum line at?

How's your compressor holding up? I'm looking at a similar setup and have a question about your powering it to the Blue Sea fuse block. The fuse block allows max of 30a per circuit but your fuse is 35a. Is this a common setup? Considering a similar hookup as my compressor load draws 23a and comes with 40a fuse. I'm wanting to power through fuse block like yours and not to the battery.

That harbor freight compressor blew up! I went with another unit I picked up at the autoparts store and so far it has been holding up very well. If the compressor you are using draws 23a you should go directly to the battery- why not?

Volt gauge looks great! I haven't messed with any vacuum lines. Maybe start a thread on this one? Maybe it could help some others as well.

Hey [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION] I'm reading some of your postings, and I can see your links and pics, but I haven't seen the specific tire size/wheel size you went with....
I dig your stance, and I'm trying to plan my build before even considering touching anything, and one of the things I'm trying to decide on at the moment is on tires.
I am most likely planning on doing a 2" lift or so upfront, and just match the rear for a level stance (Thinking 6112's up front and 5160's in back - Still deciding on springs). I've been fond of the Nitto grapplers and the Cooper S/T Maxx's and Discoverers. My issue is being nervous about fitment with all the posts around the forum regarding rubbing with different setups.
I'm most likely considering staying with a 17" wheel, and with the stock size being 265/70/17 I'm thinking I may just go with a 275/70/17 to try to keep it safe and not have to go into modding a bunch of things to make a bigger tire fit.
Your thoughts? I'm still fairly new to the forum, but you come off like a guy that knows his way around a 4runner on here! lol. So any feedback is most appreciated

Thanks for the compliments! There are lots of people on here are way more knowledgeable than me so keep looking around!
My setup is 265/70/17 E Duratracs- I don't know the wheel offset...
Suspension is front Bilstein 5100's set at 2.5" (stock springs) and Bilstein 5100's rear with SAW 1.5" springs along with Airlift 1000 airbags (the bags are strictly for towing, hauling heavy loads but aired up will provide about 1" more lift). No rubbing once I pushed the front fender liner forward a little bit.
Rides great and I've been offroad a few times and had a blast!
Really appreciate the feedback! Wow, surprised even at the 265 your still rubbing and had to mod the liner. They really didn't leave much room in these 4runners for tires did they haha.

modding the liner is really easy, what you should be wanting to avoid would be the Body mount chop if you don't want to get into working on stuff.

Sliders FINALLY!
So, I bought Jesse's Rockyroad Supersliders a little while back- thanks [MENTION=48772]Jesse1983[/MENTION] and [MENTION=103396]4rnrgrl[/MENTION] for picking them up!
They didn't look too bad, but did have some rust spots (purely cosmetic) and the powdercoating was bubbled on the legs and support braces. I figured now was the time to fix 'em up rather than later...
I used a combination of chemical stripper, scrapers, flapwheels and oscillating sanders to clean 'em up...You may be surprised as to what's hiding under your powdercoating!
Ready for primer!
This was my mobile slider painter, lol
I decided to use hammered-finish black rustoleum. It leaves a textured finish that's easy to touch up and pretty tough. Being glossy it's also easier to clean the mud off! I also did a little test here. The passenger side slider was spray painted, the drivers side I actually used a roller. I really like the added texture the roller provides- it looks like truck bedliner- and the thicker paint dries faster and seems to be more durable. I'll report back after it's been on there awhile. Rolling this stuff on is waaaay easier and no mess at all. The hammered-paint has a way of hiding any and all brush strokes for the areas you can't get with the roller. I used a sponge brush and dabbed the paint on to mimic the roller and it worked great!

With and without rockers comparison...I really don't like the unfinished look with the doors open/under the front fenders without the rockers. I may just paint them black, but then I'll be touching up black every damn spring...I dunno.
Overall happy with them!

I've got these same sliders and recently touched up rusty spots; mostly on the bottom from rock rash. That paint looks pretty good. How much work was it to get the powdercoat off? I imagine that took some serious elbow grease, even with battleship paint remover.

Yeah- it was a good bit of work! I was dreading doing the second one. That stripper is really strong stuff and you need to wear a face-shield.
The stripper removed about 98% of the powdercoat- it literally lifted it right off after about 5 minutes. The last 2% left on there is a real b!tch. Places like the welds where the center supports are, I had to use a sharpened scribe to get everything out. The design of the support legs on these sliders make things more difficult too. The finish on the legs really doesn't matter so I didn't spend time making it ultra smooth- just got all the flaking rust off and called it a day.
It wasn't horrible, but prepare to spend a few days doing it- otherwise the fumes will make ya :wacko:

Any thoughts on just roughing up the powdercoating pretty good and then hitting it with primer and paint?
edit: I guess if the stripper removed 98% you could just rough up the rest and paint over it.

You could definitely do that if everything is in decent shape.
I had 2 problems here. The powdercoat was bubbled up in spots (rust underneath) and the entire slider was spray-painted flat black over the powdercoat from a previous touchup.
