ANTMAN'S Thread

Wow I haven't checked in for awhile. End of an era. This forum's going downhill quick lol. Thanks for all the Antman Mod knowledge! I went the other direction and bought 2 more. Good luck with the LTZ! Gotta admit the Bison has me curious.

OK- The fuse panel is mounted, and most of my accessories are wired up. I still need to get inside and clean up the mini-taps I have in the driver's footwell fusebox. No problem though, I still have 3 lugs left to access power.

I think it turned out pretty good!

Some pics:

I modified the mount a little bit this morning to include the ground feed, and to clear the brake lines on the master cylinder.

Happy Modding!

Sorry to revive a very old thread, but ANTMAN I need your help *shines ANTMAN symbol onto the clouds via massive spotlight*

I am probably gonna install a cutting board (cue the gasps) in my engine bay to mount my Blue Sea aux fuse box to. I’ve run into a unique scenario though...the engine Bay Area where you mounted yours to the wheelwell has a vertical, wired piece with some sort of support in that space now* (*”now” used lightly - I drive a 2015). (See below)

I’m wondering A) what that is for, B) if I need to relo it, and C) if I can mount the cutting board to the front half of the support. (See below)

My hand in the above just showing how it would go vertically in that space.

Lastly, see where I’m pointing as an example of two stock screws I think I could utilize for mounting the bottom of the cutting board to (See below)

Your engine bay just looks different than mine:

Thanks!

You know there is no sure thing with modding this stuff, that’s the beauty of the cutting board. You can mount it anywhere you want. You may just need to fab a bracket or find somewhere else that it fits nicely.

Really no wrong or right way to do it just make sure the wires are protected and you can access what you need.

....Nah

This is better...

Not quite as "flush-mount" as I was hoping for, but still a nice result IMO.

Just a few passes with a dremel, some wire/plug relocation and a right angle coax plug and viola! The case for this CB is exactly the same dimensions as opening for the small storage area. Even the rounded edges are the same on the front side- crazy!

I have an external speaker, but honestly it's quite loud mounted this way. It's almost like the console is acting as a big speaker box.

What do you guys think?

Are you just using friction to hold the CB in place or did you make a mount for it?

I missed the fact that Antman betrayed us with that c***y.

I always wondered if you’d last as long as me, 140,000 and I still love my 4runner.

You’ll be back...:hello:

Beautiful Chevy! Until this year I have been a life long Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra owner and fan. I have not owned the "newest" gen but I made the switch for the lack of ever using the truck bed and the need for an SUV and the sticker price on the Tahoe vs its "out of the box" capabilities had be look else where.

my 08 Sierra has tonssss of issues (AFM lifter and guide failure, had o rebuild half the engine, not covered under warranty) and my 12 LTZ Z71 had little to no issues but was in an accident and completely totaled out.

It just sits in there- it never moved. If you look further into the thread you will see I cut up the CB case and lowered it about 1 1/2" further into the console. It worked great!

Wellllllll, I dunno know if I will be back to tell the truth. Depends on the 6th Gen for sure.

I really like having a V8 again and I get tons of use out of an actual truck bed. This truck is like a luxury car on steroids, lol.

I still miss my trusty 4runner though. If they didn't offer me so damn much for the trade in I would have kept it too!

Awesome, thank you! I went with a slightly larger CB, I would have to cut the radio nearly in half to make it sit as low as yours does. On a positive note about how far it sticks out, half the speaker is pointed directly at me so I shouldn't need an external speaker. Just to help keep it from sliding down all the way and to cover up where I had to cut the cup holder, I might make a simple bracket for each side for support and finished look.

Your thread has helped a lot with ideas, thank you for sharing and documenting them all of us!

Just for laughs (and hope of making this CB even a little shorter like you did) I took a look inside. The circuit board has the same footprint as the case so no cutting it down! Looks like making some trim for the sides is my only option.

2019 FOG Light mod believe it is simpler then ANTMAN even outlines.

If you Only want Fogs capable of being ON when you have
1) running lights/parking lights
2) Low beam +fogs
3) Low +Hi +fogs
4) Retain Auto/DRL mode where Fogs STAY OFF in DRL mode but turn on automatically if light sensor said turn on headlights.
5) Retain ECU fail safe/time out on turning off headlight and fog lights if left on after shutdown.

Appears that if you run Auto/DRL mode that the Fogs would stay OFF in daylight/DRL mode as PCMs logic would still apply as the "tail" relay would not be energized/closed as tails are not on during DRL mode.

With that said it appears from the attached picture one would only need to ground pin/wire 13. Fog switch on the stalk would have no functionality other then to signal the ECU to light the fog light indicator on the dash via CAN bus

Another thing to still work out is if you wanted the stalk fog light functionality /have interrupt capability on the fog by using the stalk switch as an interrupt to the ground path.. ( simple just wire the switch in line....)

However what if you wanted to retain your fog light indicator on the dash as it is in the OEM config ( lit in the LOW beam config and off in the hi beam stalk position) then perhaps diode isolate the ECU FOG ground signal from the +12 current on PIN 13... need to research if diode isolation will still retain ground signal to ECU if the other side of the diode has +current on it but flowing to ground point.
If this works then its much simpler then wiring in a relay...

Thanks

Antman, thank you for all your time, energy and effort in the Mods to your 4Runner. I am getting ready to start a major overhaul of my new (to me) 2018 4Runnner and almost everything I am doing is enabled by the path you have laid out, documented and posted... Thank you.

So are you saying that the fogs would always be on if the lights were on? Or would the switch on the column still turn them off when desired?

2020 TRD Pro

Trying the ANTMAN Fog Light Mod.

Went and purchased all the supplies. Opened up the dash and the wiring harness is different. No white wire with silver dashes. Can anyone advise me what wire to tap into?

Thanks.

EDIT - It's a 2020 TRD Pro

Those of you that got to know me a bit know that I am a HUGE Rush fan. I’m 50 and have been listening to them for basically all my life. Seen them in concert a ton. Even happened upon their tour busses one time on interstate 95 with Neil’s motorcycle trailer in tow...

They just released that drummer Neil Peart died Tuesday January 7th. “The Professor” - one of the most influential rock drummers of all time.

Very sad.

This will be my last post.

Sad to hear, for a bunch of reasons.
