Hey, I am not saying I did not get a good deal or that I am not lucky to have it. I am just pointing out that Toyota lists it as standard and it is not on the car.

So what did your dealer say he was going to do about it?
The salesman has a call into Toyota. I am sure they will end up telling me it does not come with it. I can only push the dealer so far because I do work from them as a professional so I am not going to ruin my relationship with them over something like this. At the end of the day nothing may get done. It also may be a moot point for me anyway since I may not have been willing to pay for radio after the 90 days runs out (never had XM so I don't know).
Really this whole thread started as a question about the issue and then as I discovered the answer it was just to inform people that Toyota lists all base models as coming with XM radio but they do not come with it. Toyota made a mistake that I hope does not cause anyone any problems.
I hope that information is useful to someone.

LOL I was simply making a joke :noidea: GL with getting this all figured out. It sucks if people are paying for a feature that's not there. FWIW I like my XM, but most let it run out and don't end up renewing it.

I'm confused at how the 4R does not spin out in turns without the aerodynamic aid of the shark fin to keep the back end straight? That is what I use mine for, did not realize it had additional features...sweet!
Every base one that I have seen does not, and I have looked at about a dozen on three different lots (I went to yet another lot yesterday). Of course, all the ones I have seen are in Texas, so it is possible our port (Gulf States Toyota) somehow orders the base without the XM. As some may know, the dealers order their cars from the local port/distributor, and that port/distributor configures the cars based on market analysis. I did not think it was possible to change the standard features (just the options), but maybe they can. Another possibility is that you are mistaken about seeing the base ones with the shark fin. I guess we will eventually find out when more people get them. Of course, Toyota may correct it on newer ones or they may change their website and the window stickers to take the XM off the base.
My pictures don't lie. There is no shark fin on mine and there is no shark fin on the cars.com one I showed on here too. They are not photo shopped. The proof I have given is irrefutable. I could easily go around to the dealers and take a dozen pictures of roofs (showing the front end too to confirm 2014), and the pictures would show ever color of base SR5 and Trail without shark fins.

No problem friend. I think there is a lot of truth to what you said. It is a great car and I got a good deal even if it does not have XM.

I think the 4runner's in Hawaii don't have a shark fin either, because XM does not work there, so they don't even put the fins on the car. I'm not sure why they would not put them on the 4runners going to Texas though. Weird. Keep us updated when you get an answer.

By the way, I understand that this board gets a fair number of Toyota bashers, trolls, etc. I am not one of them. In my small world of people I know, I am the most loyal Toyota person I know bar none. I have owned Toyotas since 1984 (1991-today without interruption 6 different cars). I only buy Toyota (I don't even consider other makes.).:biggrin2:
Please look on your window sticker and see if Gulf States Toyota is shown on it anywhere. It should be toward the top. I am curious to see if the only ones are from that distributor/port or others too. By the way, no shark fin means no XM. You won't find it on the radio screen or even an option for it. And unlike the older models, there is no kit from Toyota to install it. There is not even a place to put the shark fin without drilling a hole in the roof.

They often put them in the glove box. That is where mine was. It is a legal document so hang on to it.
Was in the glove box. Says SXM is on there. Subscription require of course. The sales guys at the dealership had no clue. Said they would ask service.... but I know I don't have it since the shark fin isn't there. Still wondering why its on the sticker if its not installed.
Another thing they said was on it was the Toyota Entune system. Which apparently you have to have a nav system to use...
