Maybe the thinner CO air means the sun does more damage. I sunburn quicker at this altitude than I did living in CA.

A paint shop I trust quoted me $1,000 to repaint if I remove the hood and all the items bolted to the roof. That is nearly 40% of what I paid for the rig, so I'm not sure what I want to do. The shop does OE work for BMW, so it won't be a macco job...

Here is mine next to my Ford. Check out the roof; clear coat is failing. Rest of the vehicle is great. It is at Maaco as we speak (hope to pick it up today). I did not know this was an issue with the anthracite metallic. I THINK the rest of the truck is factory original paint. One body shop guy said he thought it was.

The T4R now wears Toyo ATII's since this pic was taken.

My '98 is that color. I didn't like it at first but it has grown on me. Now I want the dents fixed and a repaint....no $$ for that. No pics...it's just a beat up stocker anyway.

I wonder if there's a clear sticker...like those clear bras you can stick on to help prevent further peeling. My roof is pretty jacked.

I am considering repainting my 4runner...I love this color, anyone know if it may have just been the Toyota paint itself rather than the color. I guess what I'm asking is if I have a local paint shop match that color would it hold up better or have the same problem? I don't know anything about paint.

Alright, so mine isn't completely covered in Anthracite Metallic, but I like the color so much I did paint my Gen 4 rims, the front hood bug deflector, hood scoop insert, and the rear wing over the back window.

I recently plasti-dipped the bumpers, and now I'm thinking of doing it to the hood since the clear coat looks soo horrible! The rest of the truck is coming along nicely I think

I really love this color. Kinda want to repaint mine with OEM paint to get it back nice and shiny...but then I'd mess it all up again off roading. Those damn branches...

I repainted mine with the stock color but some monstaliner fell in with it lol. Had no idea how it would come out but here it is.

Gone but not forgotten. I would use baby oil on the faded hood and it would keep the shine for about a month.
240k miles when sold. No issue's at all

Dang! That thing is a monster! With the solid front axle, it doesn't even look like a runner!

The clear issue is probably a factory issue, chck your vin's. I worked with paints for a while in the mid 90's and a lot of shops were complaining about the formulas. You know, they were trying to 'clean' them up...

Thanks! I didnt care for the new KM2's when they first came out but they've grown on me. Still have a soft spot for the original BFG MT's and the original Goodyear MTR's.

Those were 285/75/16.
