Any changes for 2017 model?

2017 Updates

I walked into a dealership ready to buy a 2016 4Runner but wanted to know if the 2017 price was going up. If the 2016 wasn't alot cheaper than the 2017 then I thought it'd make sense to buy a 2017. Sales told me the 2017 was completely different than the 2016 but would cost the same. He said the body and platform were going to change. Not what I wanted to hear. The Gen5 problem reports have been going down since its release, so I didn't want to be the test monkey on a new system.

Found a website that described the 2017 with two additional trail options, new platform and body styling. There was the proximity sensing system that all the new SUVs have (the ones that go back and forth to the grocery store), and the key less ignition. Text said the goal was to compete with the Honda CRV and Nissan Pathfinder. The site used pictures directly from the 2016 ebrochure but at the bottom there were 9 photos, interior and exterior. Seemed to confirm what sales said. The body styling was more modern, and the rear windows more narrow.

I grabbed a 2016 SR5/Premium with an interior color that wasn't my first choice, but its just going to get dirty anyway, so not a big deal :-)

That was 2 weeks ago. I've been looking at websites and haven't been able to find another site that says there will be a Gen6. Good chance the Sales guy doesn't really have any idea what the 2017 is going to look like and he wanted to get rid of one of the 2016 on the lot.

2017s are on the road and are identical to 2016s except for new TRD Off Road badging on Trail models and a new color for the Pro.

I would not go back to that salesperson.

fixed.

i own a 16 taco and the engine and trans both suck

I tried one. I thought it was cool how high the engine revved. Made it feel like a race truck. And the transmission was totally active all the time. Why don't you like it?

Redesign

Looks like 17' has no new changes to the runner. You guys think it'll come next year? I'm wondering what the changes will be. The tacoma engine and transmission are a love/hate deal- will those be incorporated in the 4Runner? Seems like a little bit of a heavy car, I was thinking they'd give a little more power. I think the 4Runner would look great with the new tacoma interior, and the leather on the TRD pro

There you go.

I would not go back to that salesperson.

Also, the TRD Off Road wheels come accented in black. Looks very sharp! We just had our first TRD Off Road drop the other day.
