Any info on the '04 model yet?

I found some more info from the same source. It looks like the 2003 models are stopped and the 2004 models are now being made.

" They started the new model year last week. Shipping is supposed to start at the end of the month with dealership delivery in mid September. Ordering is still 3-4 months, so mine is supposed to be here between Halloween and Thanksgiving.


Changes for '04:
Colors red and green are dropped
Charcoal seat on SE changed to stone
Color white now available on the Limited
3rd row seat for the SR5 and Limited, not SE
All cladding is now color keyed to car color


Several items now standard on the SE/SR5: (I think Limited's options are unchanged)


Towing Pkg (V8) (all models)
Tow hitch ball mount kit (all models)
Black running board (SE SR5)
fog lamps (SE SR5)
HD battery (all models)
All weather guard (all models)
Privacy glass (SR5)
P265/70R16 7J Alum (SR5)
Tonneau cover (SE SR5)


The SE requires the SP package which includes a host of things:

I have tried dealing with 2 dealer recently. Neither wants to go below 30,500 for a sport. wonder if I should wait for the 04 now. Maybe when the 04 comes out there will be some dealer incentives to get rid of the remaining 03s.
 
Low Price increase and tire pressure warning

From a Toyota press release, dated 8/18/2003:


All-new in 2003, for 2004 the popular 4Runner adds a tire pressure warning system as standard equipment on all models. Additional features include an available third-row seat on Limited and SR5 models, providing seven-passenger capability. All 4Runners will also feature a back-up camera monitoring system on the optional navigation system. When the 4Runner equipped with the navigation system is in the reverse mode a video camera mounted in the rear door automatically displays a wide-angle view behind the vehicle to assist the driver in safely pulling out of parking lots or garages.
The SR5 grade 4Runner will carry a base MSRP ranging from $27,170 for the 4x2 V6 with a four-speed automatic transmission to $30,695 for the 4x4 V8 with a five-speed automatic, representing an increase of $115, or 0.4 percent. Prices for the SR5 Sport model will range from $28,410 for the 4x2 V6 with a four-speed automatic, to $31,935 for the 4x4 V8 with a five-speed automatic, an increase of $190, or 0.7 percent. The premium Limited grade 4Runner will carry a base MSRP ranging from $33,445 for the 4x2 V6 with a four-speed automatic to $36,970 for the 4x4 V8 with a five-speed automatic, an increase of $190, or 0.5 percent.

It looks like to me Toyota wants to sell more 4Runners. :D
 
Isn't the tire pressure warning system mandated by law now (or in the near future)?

Had one on an Explorer I rented recently -- if Toyota doesn't execute better than Ford, it will be useless. Basically, you push a button on the dashboard and a yellow light comes on if a tire is low. Didn't tell you which tire or how underinflated it was.

By the way, driving the Explorer made me really appreciate the 4Runner! :)

Well if they want to sell more, then the dealers need to be more reasonable with the pricing. I hate dealing with the dealers. They make car buying so unpleasant.
 
Toyota dealers have traditionally been extremely hard to deal with. They add lots of options and don't go down. I remember years ago when someone said there dealer was simular to "Pond Scum".

With the economy the way it is, Toyota dealers are at least doing better than "Pond Scum". I guess if you want a great deal you can get a Ford Explorer.:sick:

Keep looking! I bought my Sport with the Gulf Coast package two weeks ago for $500 over blue book and I was in a hurry and got this offer almost immediately. With the Gulf coast package (which was more than a grand), a thousand dollar hit I took for them to pay off my previous vehicle, and TTL I paid $30,700.

Mind you, mine is the 6-cyl model, so if your look at a V-8 it will be more. With the 2004's right around the corner I'm sure I could have done about $1500 better overall if I had been patient.

Having said all that, I've noticed that all the current clearance incentives Toyota has going on do not include the 4-runner. This seems to be a hot vehicle right now and so allot depends on how fast a dealer can move them in your area and if others are willing to pay more than you will have a hard time finding a deal.

Use the internet and find dealers in areas that are close to you.
 
yeah I have been watching the commercials for a while and they never have listed the 4runner for rebates, low interest or such. they only seem to be doing it for the RAV and Sequoia as far as their SUVs go. Haven't found any cash incentives to the customer or stealer through Edmunds.com. The 4Runner is definitely popular this year. Seeing more and more on the road everyday.
They are disappearing quick. Last time I spoke to the Stealer, they found only a couple in New England that fits my needs.
I might be stuck wait for the '04s. Hopefully they have slightly better fuel economy and don't need super unleaded because that makes it very expensive with a lot of traveling.

Where did you hear the 2003 4-runners need to have super unleaded? I have the six and mine doesn't. BTW, I just came back from a 3000 mile round trip to Vegas and I got better than 20mpg the whole trip and allot of the time this was at 80mph and going through the mountains. Not too bad for a SUV. My little Mazda B3000 pick-up only got about 18mpg on the highway and wasn't nearly as heavy or powerful. I'm very happy with the gas milage, not to mention a tank big enough that you can go 400 miles before having to refill.

Good luck with your search. Our local dealer only has a few left on the lot.

The dealer told me that Toyota recommends 91 to 93 octane. I though I read that at Toyota's web site also.
What is everyone else running and are you hearing any pinging in the engine.

Little Prick bastard i was dealing with was talking out of his A**... he was saying december... i figured he was trying to play me...
 
Back up cameras are cool unfortunately you have to get the Nav system to get it. We have backup cameras on our trucks at work and they come in real handy especially in a large truck that you can only see out the side mirrors. The bad thing about them is that they suck in wet or snowy weather. The cameras get covered with the water or snow and you can't use them unless you get out and wipe them off.
