Any interest in window up/ down / rear hatch pop wiring kits? Perfect for camping!

all you need to make this work is send a ground to the wires, the lock wire for window up, the unlock for the window down, and the hatch release to unlock. but where you have the switch is not good if someone decide to break in the truck.

Why would this matter? Assuming the interior switch functions the same as the original switch on the liftgate, it won't open the latch unless the truck is unlocked, which in the break in scenario wouldn't be the case.

Installation shouldnt take more than an hour. I would be happy to entertain offers to do the install for people (In San Diego) if interested.

Hey everyone, wanted to see if anyone would be interested in me making up pre built kits for my mod below-

I camp in my 4Runner quite often and my two complaints were:
A) to get out, I had to open a side door as I couldn't open the rear hatch from inside.
B) to roll rear window up and down, I would have to crawl up to front, put key in ignition and use the front button.


I fixed this by installing a DPDT momentary switch that when pressing up, locks the vehicle, and after 2 seconds of holding down begins to roll the window up / pressing down unlocks and after 2 seconds begins to roll the window down. The key does not have to be in the ignition, and you can control it however you like.

I then installed a SPST momentary push button switch that pops the rear hatch allowing you to get out easily.

I had to buy in bulk on a few of the switches so now am stuck with a bunch of parts. Would anyone be interested in a pre-built harness with switches along with instructions / wiring schematics? If so, what would a fair price be?

so this would also include the mod so the rear window rolls up with the key fob button????? if not, i think it really should be part of it

that's really slick. I might be interested, though it seems that you already have enough interest to cover the extras you mentioned. Maybe you've stumbled on a little niche business. I kind of agree on the location, that a little more out of sight is better, but then again, if someone breaks a window to access the switch.... they already broke a window and they're in.

Another thought, wouldn't you have your keys handy when in the back? Just hold the window button to lower, push unlock, reach out to hit the open switch... and you're out. Just sayin' Its still a really slick mod...

I'm interested (and in San Diego), but I would need a different switch to pop the hatch. I have two (obnoxious) Rhodesian Ridgebacks who ride around in the back and I guarantee they would hit that button switch. Any option for a different switch and/or a way to cover it so my assho..., er, dogs wouldn't hit it?
