Any issues with long-term top plate spacer use?

Hello all:

I spoke with a local shop about getting a 1" front lift. The mechanic indicated that a 1/2 inch top-plate spacer would do what I want and that he had a similar level kit on his F150.

Would this kit do the trick: Front Top Plate Spacer Kit

Does this put any undue wear on the rest of the suspension? Maybe my Google is bad but I can't seem to find any long-term reports. Most people seem to go with the 5100s.

Thanks much, Steve.

I just went through this evaluation... and the lift gurus in town recommended I do the Bilsteins all around and potentially grow it later...I did it this weekend and it looks and drives great ... my buddies are sure it’s been lifted
All around .... to each his own ... it’s my DD, so I went more conservative

I could never get my KDSS Trail with Toytec 5100 lift perfectly level in all 4 corners so I threw a spacer on the driver's side. It's been there for 60k miles, now.

Glad to hear you got them installed! I think I'm going to pull the trigger on a set of 5100s at the .85 setting. So I'm assuming based on your comments, the 5100s seem like a pretty good upgrade so far? Have they reduced nosedive slightly?

I recently installed a 1/4 Headstrong spacer (1/2 lift) on my 2017 4Runner. But had the same one from Toytec on my 2012 Tacoma for 40k and I never had a problem. Bilsteins do raise the truck an extra 1/4 inch higher (the 1/2 lift looks great FYI on a stock 4Runner)but the 1/4 not the 1/2 spacer is very easy to installed vs the Bilstein. After my personal experiences, I prefer the ride of a small conservative spacer over preloading springs but I know I am in the minority. I do high mileage that includes city driving and I have always preferred SR5 suspension over the TRD Offroad packages I have had in the past when in the city. So i didn't I to lose the suppleness therefore why I went with a spacer again. Like I previously stated though...most people will highly disagree with me on all my statements but I hope it helps you while looking into to all your options OP.

Glad to see this thread. Ordered a 1/2" and a 1/4" and going to install this weekend. Moved all the circlips down to 0 for less preload. The 700lb coils are doing a good job of giving me 1.5" on the driver and 2" on the passenger with the weight of the front bumper. The ride feels really smooth now and I'm curious how the spacers will affect it. I'll get to test it out soon enough!

The 5100 install exceeded my expectations (and I'm not just blowing hot air) ...they reduced the nose dive from braking, gave it a lifted look, with a tougher stance. Super happy...getting new shoes Firday
