Hello Long Islanders. Having a big issue with my 01' SR5. The rear shock towers rusted out and now the shock is pushing its way into the floor boards. Anyone out eastern Long Island know of someone that would weld in new rear shock towers? My mechanic wants to drop the gas tank and fab new mounting points to the tune of $3500. She only has 183k on her, but can't see putting that much money into it. Thanks in advance for any advice!!

Would love to join on NJ Pine Barrens run.
Hey Theomoji here, both my friend and I just got our 4Runner SR5s and would love to go with some locals who's been to NJ Pine Barrens. We are from Queens NY.
We went to Wharton State Forest, that was a cool drive. But we don't know the whole route of the Pine Barrens.

Help inspecting a 3rd gen
Hey everyone, I am also based in Brooklyn and getting ready to get myself a 3rd gen.
Wondering what people's opinion is of trying to take the car to a Toyota dealership before purchasing to have a Toyota mechanic look over the vehicle? Also, I presume doing a state inspection before purchasing is a good idea?

Imo toyota dealership may be pricey but having them look the car over is totally a good thing ....last thing you wanna do is buy someones headache lol ...also if the car passes inspection then its probably a good sign to move forward with the buy.

Nice deal if ODO is correct... 149k miles seem low.. With the high resale value of these and reading the ODOMETER fraud thread in here... Carfax or You may want to track the previous owners, odometer readings.. Just saying.. Seems like low miles for that car and the near mint outside look with the dealership front tags.Thank you!!
